I was going to take my cat lucky to my old vet hospital in Terra linda ,however, when I called to make an appointment. I was turned off, due to no availability, to my surprise, I was wondering why I wasn't called to see if I wanted to get lucky the vaccine. I had been there couple of times and I thought they would at least asked me if I still needed to see them Anyway I was panic ???? because all veterans started to fill up. I called South Novato hospital And i.m happy to say that I was very excited to take lucky to this wonderful place and I loved how theirs. They took me in and i.m please to say ,don't panic call them they are great ,call make an appointment and be happy, that u got ur pet taking care of. My cat was very ill with respiratory infection. For a while we had no idea what it was. After several tests and ruled out some health conditions, Doctor had idea how to treat my cat. I am very happy with the quality of care provided. Thank you for kindness and love they treat our pets.

This animal hospital and the staff were a godsend to me. My husband and I are visiting family in the middle of a move from Maryland to Southern California, and our cat got into a packet of Fig Newton’s on the road. He became very ill, and needed attention right away. They were able to work us into their schedule, sedate our cat who is absolutely not a good patient, do diagnostics and treat him as needed. I am so grateful to the staff and the doctors who helped him. They put me at ease before even seeing him, and seemed to really care. Our furry little one is feeling so much better. I just cannot express how grateful I am that we were able to get him the help he needed, with the assistance of South Novato Animal Hospital. Thank you so much.

A huge thank you to South Novato Animal Hospital. We just adopted two rescue kittens (a brother and sister bonded pair) and last Saturday morning I noticed the male (Walter) didn't want to eat, all he wanted to do was sleep. I sat on the floor with him trying to get him to eat and thats when I noticed he was trembling like he was cold. I immediately called every vet in Southern Marin but being that it was Saturday no one would see us, and they all told us to make an appointment for much later in the week or told us to take him to the pet hospital in San Rafael (which we had a horrible experience with in the past with our previous beloved cat). I started calling more and more vets that were further away, and the ONLY vet that actually seemed to care was South Novato Pet Hospital. I spoke with Rochelle (sp?) and she seemed really concerned and I could tell she really cared. She said "let me see if we can fit him in between appointments". I was placed on an extremely short hold and she said "can you bring him up right now and leave him with us for a little bit, the vet will look at him in between appointments". We immediately headed up to Novato, and Rochelle (who is just great and made it possible for Walter to be seen same day) met us in the parking lot and took Walter to the back and we just kinda walked around Novato and waited. Less than an hour later the vet called me (who was extremely kind) and said that Walter had a fever of 105(!) and that she wanted to give him some medication, prescription food, etc etc and went over the price with me, which was extremely fair, I actually thought it would be a lot more due to the emergent nature appointment. I don't understand the reviews here that say this place only cares about money. That couldn't be further from the truth in my opinion, but I digress..... We picked Walter up and I could tell immediately that he was already doing better. The next day he was totally back to normal, had a crazy appetite (in a good way) his stool sample checked out, and he's back to being a healthy playful kitten. Can't thank South Novato Hospital enough. Caring, Kind, and honest people.

I agreed with the one-star reviewers that this place cares mostly about money and not about being compassionate. I do understand that we all have bills to pay but remember being kind, especially during this COVID time when people are struggling to make ends meet and you want to charge unnecessary fee is so greedy. I just feel that you are not very smart as getting potential customer. This is a really bad business model especially in a supposed caring and compassionate realm. I am just glad there are many other options available around Novato for me to go to.

We went in for a limp and came out a full day later with a 1200 dollar bill and a lackluster diagnosis. Went to a different vet in Novato and for $100 got a real diagnosis and a proper treatment plan that seemed significantly more accurate to our dogs problem. Felt ignored, never got to speak to the actual veterinarian, and always went through the front desk person (whose people skills where rather lacking and rude). Part of the cost was for x rays, for which I had to call 5 times and leave an email to simply have forwarded to me in a zip file, and it’s pretty clear they’re after the money and not your pets best interest. We wanted to give them a chance but we were clearly completely ripped off and exploited because we were concerned for our pet. Spoke to a friend who also had an extremely negative experience here and decided to never come back. Would not recommended.

I was looking for a flea treatment for my dog and I realized that South Novato Animal Hospital was less than 2 blocks from were we lived. We went in and requested a single dose of the treatment because I could not afford a 6 month supply at the time. They helped us out and sold us a dose and said we could come back anytime. I will be going to them for now on for my dogs health and beauty needs.

I am taking care of my son's family dog while he is recovering from surgery as he needs a calm quite environment. The vet in So. Cal. sent a list of 3 Marin vets to contact to have his staples removed. I called all and none could do it within the necessary time. I remembered that I had been to the Novato Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for So. Novato Animal Hospital many years ago and was impressed with their facilities. So I called and they were very happy to schedule an appointment on the day the staples needed to come out. The day of the appointment they were great, very quick and the price was much lower than the other vets who could not accommodate us. I will definitely recommend them and use them again.

Dr. Sutton and staff were all great as usual. They are always able to take me the same day I call or the very next day at the latest. Friendly and welcoming staff and they are always so gentle and caring with my pets! Keep up the great work and most importantly, thank you for making my pet babies so happy and healthy!

Our dog needed ligament surgery, and SNAH saw him through it. He is now happily recovering, and getting stronger every day.

I have been going to SNAH for three years, where they have treated both of my dogs since puppyhood for both maintenance and emergency care. I have found their attention, care and support --from office staff to the vets --to be stellar. It wasn't until I took my cat there for a routine urinary tract infection that I realized something very important about SNAH: their philosophy is to look for and rule out worst-case scenarios at all times. (As my present 12-year-old said, "it's like going to the dr w a sore throat and being checked for cancer!") I made the decision to leave SNAH following this appointment, but it's not because the care and expertise isn't excellent; it was because I realized I need a vet that both listens and hears me, as the advocate of my pet. In their defense, part of this is a result of their organization system, in that you do not have an assigned vet per se; I have only seen one of the three vets they advertise as veterinary staff on their web page in the three years I've been there, as a result of newer vets there. (I'm a huge fan of both Drs Newman and Ortiz.) What I learned during this last visit was my explaining what my cat had (UTI) fell on deaf ears, with the vet (again, one I'd never met) trying to charge me $893.00 to look for blockages, when Brix had no symptoms--something the vet made clear but insisted on looking for because of his gender and age. In the end when I pointedly asked her to try and treat him conservatively first, w antibiotics, given these were mirror symptoms to previous infections, she refused--explaining what she learned in vet school : "not to knock other vets but I was trained to look for everything.... bc I am his advocate." That's when I realized there is the difference between SNAH and myself, bc I believe I am my pets' advocate. Towards this end, I left, took Brix to another vet and was prescribed Clavamox. Brix was back to normal the very next am; days later, you'd never know he was sick. So while it may seem strange that I'm recommending SNAH when I have chosen to leave, I share this because I think it's important that you know their philosophy; if you are okay with SNAH assuming the role of your pet's advocate, then this is your place. However, if you believe you are your pet's voice, and you need to know you'll be both listened to and heard no matter who is on call, my suggestion is you find a vet that has a regular doctor. Should you ever need emergency care, I still wholeheartedly recommend SNAH.

From the staff at the front desk to the nurses and Dr's, my little guy, Mr. Truffles has been treated with respect, compassion. When I bring Mr Truffles in for his appointment, it feels that he is able to relax because I can relax knowing he is well cared for when he's in their hands. C. Bennett

I love this place. Part of it is that it's very close to my home, and there was absolutely zero wait on a Saturday at 11. But outside of that, we found the staff to be friendly (and funny), and Dr. Dahlman was pleasant and very quick. Some people may not like the idea of the vet taking your animal from the room for treatment (and I imagine it was optional), but I appreciated that he took her away for treatment and returned very quickly. He and the staff were all informative without being condescending. In and out in 20 minutes. I'll add that we've paid $40 more for the same treatment at other vets, so that's also a plus.

I have always experienced a level of care beyond excellent and Dr. Ortiz especially has been so in tune with the needs and health status of my kitty and has also been very supportive to me, thorough with exams and testing, and follows up, more than once always, to ensure he is getting better or answers any and all of my questions in a timely manner. I do not know how it could be better, I will continue to bring my kitty to SNAH. Thank you!

I chose South Novato Animal Hospital because the staff are friendly, professional and genuinely seem to care about the well-being of my cat. Also I like that the Hospital is a Cat Friendly practice where Thursday is set aside for cat patients only.

Iv been going to South Novato Animal Hospital for the last 2 years or so. They have a very helpful and friendly staff in a nice relaxed environment. Also they are always willing to work with me around my hectic schedule, even on short notice. Within reason that is. Iv had a few different veterinarians in the last few years and they are by far the best so far!
