I had the heart-wrenching experience of finding out my beloved Golden Retriever had aggressive cancer and had to be put down. Although this was a terrible time, I couldn’t be more appreciative of the vet and and staff on duty that night. (1/5/22) They were professional, knowledgeable, efficient and extremely compassionate in a difficult situation. Thank you!

I took my 18 year old cat in on Sunday. He has had many issues through his life and I new he was getting close to the end. The staff was great the wait was not to bad. My cat was worse than I thought and after speaking to the Vet decided he'd be put to sleep. I was taken to a room so that I could spend a little time with Rascal before he was put to sleep. While in the room a Tech came in with Rascal and when I told her I would be putting him down she said she'd take him , place the catheter and them bring him back to spend time with me. After 20 minutes or so I heard on the other side of the door a girl say "He was screaming when I did this" and they laughed. Then the door opened and the Tech brought me Rascal. Now I don't know if what was said was about the catheter being placed or not, but it did make me wonder and I felt terrible for my cat. Just know that those rooms are not sound proof. That was an awful time for me. Other than that the staff was kind and thoughtful and the procedure was as good as it could have been.

Worst place ever. 2300.00 dollars later and still can't tell me whats wrong with my kitten. No return phone calls, rude when on the phone when you finally get a live person. Put on hold for 17 minutes to just be hung up on. Took over 8 days to get cat scan results that they said they would put a rush on because the first one was blurry. I wouldn't recommend this place at all to anyone. Only went there because it was the only place open and thought our kitten swallowed a toy and was having difficulty breathing and it was late at night. Funny how nice they were when we took him in that night then once they had our money they turned.

Omgosh. First, let me start by saying that "clinic" is fortunate that my husband took Archie......"Dr." Aglaia Cardona who was less than friendly was his vet. When they first got to our scheduled appointment, the girls at the front desk were very friendly, they were unsure if Archie would get on the scale to get weighed but when my husband gave the command, Archie walked right over and sat on the scale very obediently. He has been trained by K9/Military dog trainers so he is on top of his game at all times. They got into the room and within less than 5 minutes "Dr." Cardona called Archie aggressive and muzzled him (which has NEVER happened to him EVER). Archie was there for an ear infection, toe nail trim and vaccinations....she then stated she was not going to do anything for Archie unless they sedated him! It was a SIMPLE scheduled appointment and she was going to SEDATE HIM?! At this point she has terrified him, wants to sedate him and then proceeds to tell us that we would have to come back in 3-5 hours! My husband left Archie with the vet, went to the car and immediately called me telling me about his horrific experience at which time I told him to go back in there and take Archie out of "Dr." Cardona's "care". We DID NOT allow her to further assess Archie. This woman is cold, does not listen, she is beyond unprofessional and has ZERO business caring for animals. You were referred to us from another hospital farther away, just know that I will be calling them and letting them know you are beyond disappointing and you will NEVER have our business. The only thing you will ever receive from us is this review and negative word of mouth advertising. Shame on you. #youdontdeserveastar

The only good part of my emergency visit for my dog was Heather and one other woman who worked in the front, I'm not sure what her name was. The vet Kelsey Willis was terrible. After waiting 4 hours for an assessment for my dog who was vomiting blood they finally got to us, and came out to do the assessment then immediately took her back. Kelsey Willis never returned to answer the last of my questions and left for the night, after I had waited almost 7 hours. We were charged almost $1000 and spent a total of 10 hours and our dog was not prescribed the antibiotics that she needed and the medication dosage for one medication was given incorrectly. Heather was amazing and fixed everything for us, but beyond her I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants their pet well taken care of!!!!

This place is horrible! Dr. Carbona (spelling) is horrible! She wants to lecture you on all details of care and tell you how you should conform to her wishes without listening to your care or concerns of your animal. You know how some vets go overboard tell you what a terrible person you are for feeding and loving and caring for your animal. She doesn’t want to hear your care efforts because you don’t conform to her opinion of how things should be. She must be recently out of school because she has NO business seeing patients and their moms and dads. Dr. Carbona gives all vets a bad name!!! If this were my business I’d fire her she’s a horrible person!!! You just lost our business and everyone I talk to. Been in town for years and years! Don’t go here or see Dr. Carbona!!!

Staff is nice, it doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ve been to several vets and normally they aren’t personal and friendly. For how much vets charge I don’t get why they can’t be nice and friendly. So thank you for having nice friendly staff!

Absolute worst place to bring your animal. My dog got hit by a car we brought him here. They took him in the back refused to let us see him for well it’s been 3 hours now. Who knows when they actually will. They keep saying he is stable we are waiting for a treatment plan from the doctor. All the while they sedated him and still haven’t done any x rays for internal bleeding. It’s been 4 hours since he got hit. The front staff won’t give you any answers and the doctor in the back won’t come out. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time with this place go somewhere else. There is many other great vets that actually care about animals. Not just money.

We took our cat today after he was yowling in pain and dragging his foot, for seemingly no reason. We paid over $300 after being told they didn’t see a reason to actually check his leg because nothing “looked” wrong. But also admitted he probably experienced some sort of trauma. Excuse me? I’m paying for you to find out what happened to my cat. Not to make excuses and take my money after not helping at all. We’ve been told to “wait it out” which doesn’t sound promising at all. If the antibiotics don’t work we’re supposed to go back but I promise I’ll NEVER come back to this place. For anyone seeing this, go to the Monte Vista Vet if you can. They actually care and make sure to find out what’s wrong with your fur baby.

Emergency visit. When we arrived we got paperwork immediately and it didn’t seem busy at all (3 cars in the parking lot) but after we waited an hour they came out to get our dog and told us it would be 2-4 hours! I totally get being busy and having lots to do but it would have been nice to know before we waited an hour. We went to a different emergency vet and they saw us within 30 mins no issues. Staff seemed very nice

This is my second visit. The first time we had to bring my daughter’s Japanese Spitz in during covid. He was very Ill and unfortunately we had to have him euthanized. Such a devastating time for us. The staff was very compassionate and professional throughout the process. This Visit was under much better circumstances. My five-year-old German spitz needed an update on her vaccinations and an overall wellness check. Usually she is very skittish and uncomfortable in new surroundings as she doesn’t see very well, But here she was very relaxed and comfortable the staff is awesome. She was also very comfortable with the vet. We had a very pleasant experience

I called needing medical advice for my cat who was hit by a car and covered in oil on how to remove the oil from fur and how to help my cat and the lady who answered the phone was very rude said “I cant give you information because i’m not a licensed veterinarian”. People in this field need to have empathy, and this lady had none.

I have taken all of my dogs to this vet for my entire life. This vet has gotten too big for their britches. My dog has a simple eye infection. She has had the same infection many times before. They have no appointment availability for at least three weeks so my options are: 1. Let my dog's eye get progressively worse over three weeks or 2. Wait 4-6 hours with her, outside, in the cold, as a triage patient.... FOR AN EYE INFECTION. The cost of triage isn't even the problem, it's the fact that she needs to be triaged for a simple eye infection. I am so bummed that they expanded and lost the personal, caring touch that kept me with them for over years. If you can't handle the case load, don't take new patients at the expense of your loyal ones.

My puppy was desperately sick so we took her there. After 6 hours with no update we asked what was going on, the vet came back and said we could keep here for an outrageous price. We decided to take her home and after the 6 hours all they did was give her a nausea shot and sent her on her way. They did not give her any fluids or check her temperature and after having diarrhea and nausea she needed fluids!! NEVER TRUST THEM!! This picture was after extensive surgery removed some of her rotting stomach!!! Thank goodness for Dr. Mel Tanner in Oakdale.

5 stars will never be enough for Standiford Vet and its staff...especially, Dr. Zack. They are amazing. From the staff, to my miracle surgeon Dr. Zack (and Dr. Willis) - this man has the hands of gold. He saved my dog Faith. I rushed to Standiford Vet Center from Taylor Vet who told me that my dog was more likely than not , not going to make it; that I walked in with a dog and would probably walk out without one; and that it would take ~4 hours for her blood transfusion before surgery. Dr. Willis & Dr. Zack took care of my dog beyond measure and she survived. They gave her a blood transfusion within 2 hours as every minute of time counted against my dog and was critical. From the moment I walked in, they were ready to handle my dog and the game was on. They are so professional, SO kind, empathetic, world-class trained and competent doctors...I can never thank Dr. Zack enough for how he handled Faith and how he gave her that second chance that no one else believed she could have. I am forever indebted to him and the staff at Standiford. Their smiles , empathy, and delivery are priceless. Thank you x10000000 will still never be enough.

I had to take my baby to be euthanized tonight, and they were so comforting and kind about the entire ordeal, as painful as it was. I can't express my gratitude towards them enough.

Brought my angel here because he was unwell. The vet determined it was an ear infection. Antibiotics perscribed didn't work. Came back and same vet determined infection spread to his eye and throat. Different antibiotics prescribed and nothing helped. Took him to a different vet and the were able to determine within a half hour that he actually had a tumor growing inside his ear and sinus cavity. It was pushing on the back of his eye and grew down into his throat making it impossible for him to eat or breath. The lack of proper care at this facility is unacceptable. The let my angel suffer. Malpractice is their motto.

First off, let me state that I normally don’t do reviews. I’ve probably posted 4 reviews in my life. However, I felt compelled to submit a review based on my experience Standiford Veterinary Center. Our beloved Roxy (Lab/Pit Mix) of 12 years had a medical seizure at our home. My wife advised me she was taking Roxy to Standiford Veterinary Center based on our previous experience with them. We do not live in Modesto and my wife drove to Standiford Veterinary Center form our local city. Upon arrival, the staff listened and acknowledged my wife’s observations of Roxy’a medical issue. The staff was cognizant to my wife’s concerns. Roxy was taken in for x-rays and it was revealed Roxy had a ruptured spleen and was bleeding internally. My wife called me at work to advise me of the situation. The options were to either have an emergency surgery or to let her pass humanely. I opted for the emergency surgery but the staff advised Roxy probably would not make it through the surgery. My wife advised me that they would semi- sedate Roxy from pain until I could get them from work (1 hour commute). My wife and I were allowed to be with Roxy for approximately 30-40 minutes before she passed. The staff showed enormous compassion during our time of sorrow. We walked out with only Roxy’s dog collar that she’s worn for 12 years. All of the staff gave us condolences for the loss of Roxy on our way out. It’s been six days since Roxy has passed and we’re processing the loss. Today, I came home from work and gathering the mail and found a card from Standiford Veterinary Center. The condolences card was a thoughtful gesture in itself. Inside the condolences card was a set of ink paw prints on a card from Roxy’s paws. The gesture was totally unexpected but was a pleasant surprise during our transfer period. My wife and I want to thank the staff at Standiford Veterinary Center for the compassion and competency with the loss of Roxy. Our experience during these difficult times was aided by our experience with Standiford Veterinary Center.

TLDR: THIS PLACE IS SCAMMING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MONEY!!! GO TO MONTE VISTA IN TURLOCK I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I brought my cat in because she was wheezing, not eating, and just acting strangely in general. We sat and waited for around six hours and they wanted to charge us $2700 to keep her for a couple days but we couldn’t afford that so they took off and changed some treatments and charged us $1100. None of the shots they gave her worked and they sent us on our way, The next day we went to Monte Vista in Turlock and barely had to wait, the staff was much nicer, and they kept her for two days and had more treatments for her for a total of $1300.. They also told us that the medication that the first vet gave us wasn’t correct. If any staff of this place is reading this, my cat's name is Mia., I hope you remember her and I hope you feel guilty.

This center saved my dog, her puppies, and my sanity! They were so wonderful when we showed up on a Sunday with a whelping dog in distress. They were so gentle, kind, & loving to our precious girl and us! We were so stressed and we had no clue what to do to help our girl. I will FOREVER be so grateful to this wonderful organization, their staff, and the vets.

If you have a life threatening emergency for you pet go here. Or else wait till the morning and go to a good vet like beckwith vet hospital which is open even saturdays. Since this is our only choice for emergency vet, you really have no other options after hours and on sundays. They will squeeze every penny out of you.

I brought in a stray cat that had been hit by a car I was willing to work out a payment plan to help this cat and their first assessment without even really looking at the cat closely was that he was in bad shape and probably not worth trying to save I told them that when I found him he didnt seem to be hurt to badly other than the broken arm he visibly had and he had what I believed to be road rash on his mouth and nose which they believed was internal bleeding I told them I think it was just road rash which they dismissed they offered to take the cat and give him free services which essentially means they were gonna euthanize him I told them I believed he was okay and he would make a recovery and they seemed highly opinionated that the cat was probably not gonna survive so long story short I took the cat back home nursed him and show him some TLC within 6-8 hours he was eating and drinking water and mobile able to hobble around on 3 legs. All in all Im very disappointed with the way that standiford veterinary center handled this situation they showed no compassion and were quick to make a bad assessment that could have costed this poor little cat his life I dont recommend anyone to go there.

If I could give 6 stars out of 5, I would. The staff was very considerate and compassionate when it came to administering end-of-life care to our beloved German Shepherd. Great people working here.

Beware this place is just out for money! Took my 15 year old dog in because he was losing hair on his tail and shakes really bad. I had to wait in the car as they took him in. They said he had one flea. Seriously! One flea? When the other three dogs that live with him had none. Almost $500 later I was out of there only to have a follow up appointment where I had to pay another $40-$50. I also tried to refill his medication for his shakes and they declined it saying that it had been over a year since she had been in when it hasn’t. The only good thing I can say about this place where the vet techs that came and got him at the car we’re nice.
