I used to take my dog to the VCA Venice location which was great but it closed down recently so then I booked an appointment for my dog a whole month back at this Brentwood location. I get here and they make me send my dogs records via email despite it being a VCA. Shouldn’t VCA the company already have my dogs records? After which I sign some forms and then I wait 15-20mins only to be told that the doctor cannot see my dog today. I waited a whole month for this appointment and had to juggle various other work tasks only to be told in person that the doctor cannot see my dog today. Why couldn’t you call me in advance if that was the case? And then why make me send my dogs info, sign some forms and make me wait? Very unprofessional. Also the tone of person who informed me this seemed so casual and unapologetic which makes me think this seems to be a regular occurrence.

I'm really confused.. I called almost two months ago to make an appointment for my two kittens to be fixed. We get here today, you only allowed one of us to go inside with the animals. Not only did you not fix the cats. You drew bloodwork for FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. And our kittens are now not fixed but we're out that much money. If you're going to pull this, at least be transparent with me when I make the appointment FOR THEM TO BE FIXED. This wasn't okay. UPDATE::: the total for bloodwork and urine 682$ WOW and they "can't make the appointment now to be fixed and THEY WILL CALL US" Nice work.

on my 4th pet here over a span of 20+ years. even though VCA bought them out(sic. absorbed them) they still maintain that old fashioned, personal feeling of vested interest in their patients and their owners. no "pushing" of extra procedures that VCA's larger facilities are notoriously known for.

The Vets here are fantastic, the staff are not. Due to Covid you sit in your car and call when you arrive. My first visit I sat in my car for 45 minutes (on hold) until finally I got the attention of a tech who came outside and then my pet was taken inside. My second visit my call was answered promptly and my dog's visit was efficient, vet called me, credit card was charged, medications were brought to my car and then I waited and waited. It took one hour for my dog to finally be brought out to the car (when I asked a tech who came outside to please check ). When my dog was brought out, she apologized and said the woman in charge of my dog forgot about her. Plan to spend 2 hours in your hot car.

This vet may have been good before COVID. But during this time they are extremely inconsiderate. They make you wait outside in over 100 degree weather and call in to get your pet. Their phone lines are never open so 20 minutes after waiting in the heat and getting through, their answer is “you’ll just have to wait, we can’t get to you right now and your appointment time doesn’t mean anything”. Such terrible customer service and a horrible way to treat pets.

I've been taking my fur babies to Kim Cavallo for years! She is very kind and professional. My babies love her and she always has treats for them!! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.

This animal hospital and vet has been a long standing staple in the community. They have adapted quite well to the "new normal" opened a window booth for humans to communicate/pay staff. Animals and meds are delivered to you curbside. VCA is not an inexpensive vet, so be prepared for that.

Where to begin. I'm kind of shocked that this clinic got a high average score from users. 1) Even after making an appointment, the doctors made us wait upwards of an hour for a five minute visit. In the meantime, my dog was so sick that she started barfing on the floor of the waiting room. This did not speed anything along. 2. The waiting room and vet exam rooms are tiny, to the point of feeling claustrophobic. They packed probably 10-15 dogs into a tiny space and made everyone sit and wait and wait and wait. The exam room was so small that my dog ended up sitting half in the room, half in the hallway. 3. The visit itself was literally 5 minutes and did not properly address our concerns. The doctor did not perform extremely simple / straightforward tests that are ironically indicated as best practice on the VCA website for similar issues (ie drawing blood, urine etc). The vet had zero bedside manner and my dog refused to go anywhere with him. 4. Given the above, I was shocked when the visit costed over $250 for literally 5 minutes with a vet, two shots and some wet food. I would absolutely pay for the shots and food again, but $118 for a cold, worthless five minute visit seems like an unnecessary premium. 5. I would not recommend this clinic to others and was deeply dissatisfied from beginning to end. Even trying to check-out was an ordeal and they allow double-parking in their back lot so I was blocked in and couldn't leave for 10 minutes while my dog sat in the car.

I just moved back to LA after enduring SF rental prices for years. Of course my pup, Annie, moved with me and finding her a new vet was a project. I rescued Annie from the Sonoma fires a few years ago and she’s sometimes wary of new people and places. The staff at VCA immediately made both of us comfortable. Our vet was loving and kind and Annie walked out with a 100% healthy report card. We both couldn’t have been happier!

I love this vet! The office has parking behind as well as meter street parking in front which is handy. The staff are friendly and I don’t normally wait long to see the vet which I appreciate. I’ve spent longs periods of time waiting at other places and my dogs get antsy.

This is THE place you want to go when your fur babies have any trouble, and/or just regular checkups to keep them healthy. This place makes you and your furry babies feel at home and always welcomed. Staffs (front and back) are all friendly and helpful, and doctors are all caring and knowledgeable. My babies love Dr. Thorrens ❤️ She is the most kindhearted, knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional Vet I’ve ever had over a decade. Now even over 3 years after I moved pretty far from this clinic(1 hour drive!), I’m still going there for regular checkups and all because they all know my babies very well and simply I can’t find anyone and anywhere better than this clinic!

Bought a health plan for my puppy through VCA and it ended up working well and saving me money. When I had my puppy neutered, he ended up doing well with the surgery and was well cared for. Thank you VCA for keeping my baby healthy!

I really appreciate Doctor Martin and all the staff at Brentwood Animal hospital for taking care of my German Shepherd Dog for nine years. Doctor Martin has a great wealth of veterinary ability and I have relied on him over the years. It would be hard to find a better veterinary service.

Dr. Martin and Dr. Olds are GREAT vets. However, after they sold this long-established veterinary office to VCA, the office is not the same high quality. Meanwhile, neighbors who formerly took their pets to the wonderful and revered Dr. Olds and Dr. Martin are sharing horror stories about the new VCA situation. Recommendation: Avoid VCA.
