Update 2/7/22: The store refused to sell our family pet food on the grounds of this review. A woman supervisor had previously reached out by phone to berate the review I had left but yet offered to be better next time. Is this better? By discriminating and retaliating a client? On top of this female manager insinuating I had something against women! I had assumed this office had closed and was abandoned due to the state of their windows. I called and was asked to wait 10 min outside with the rest of the homeless gathered around, per Covid safety policy. When I shared my feedback on keeping a tidied place for their clients, I was told they have other priorities, and that the vet wouldn’t care to hear their feedback. How can I trust that this office is taking adequate care of our pets when they can’t take care of their offices?

The first time I called Park La Brea Veterinary Care was in early September. I was told to fill out an emailed information forms online and email back, after which they would contact me. I never received a call back and never heard back. This contact, phone and email, was with a Maddie. The second time I called was on Monday, where I was told there was an appointment available on Wednesday 10/27 at 12 (I even expressed my incredulity to double-check: "You mean THIS Wednesday?"). I called for the third time when arriving today, Wednesday 10/27 at 12, and was told there was no appointment. I explained the situation to the woman on the phone, who instead of offering me availability due to their error attempted to send me on my way. When I expressed sympathy for the issue of internal business computers being incorrect, she insinuated that I was crazy or a liar ("I don't know who you called" or "I don't know where you got that information from" when I have the records of contacting Park La Brea Veterinary Care). I never get mad at lower-level workers due to company fault, but I did here because the response was so far below acceptable. When she asked if I'd like to speak to a manger I said "Yes!," so she could afterwards say that the managers wouldn't even be available until later. I hung up and left despite Park La Brea Veterinary Care breaking their multiple promises. This whole experience has been profoundly shocking and I cannot recommend avoiding this vet more.

Great service and excellent care. My dog usually hates the vet but was completely calm here.

They take care of my kitty Pochita, cut her nails(can't do it since she comes from a rescue, and fears me with the shears). They took care of Polito, and all my family's kitty's. GREAT PLACE

Park la Brea he’s always been kind, patient and affordable. I’ve never had a problem. I moved to a new area and still go to them as no one else compares. Your doggies will be taken care of here.

This has been my vet since I got my dog 8 years ago. I love Dr Eiman and dr Schwartz so this doesn’t apply to them. They’re fantastic. This is for the entire staff and dr rattan. The are the absolute worst. Brought my dog in because her breathing was very labored the night before. I called when they opened and explained the situation. The tech said they had an appt at 3:45. So you didn’t hear me tell you my dog’s breathing was labored. Next thing he quick to says it is 132 for an emergency visit. I’m fine with that. But are you really treating my dog like an emergency when you take and discharge all the dogs before and after me? Then after 41/2 hours I have to keep asking for my dog Yeah they did X-rays but no one told me the results. Nor dr rattan advise me what cause it or how to prevent it. But they wanted that 132 which I refused to pay. Oh how quick did that turn into a regular doctor visit. The staff is sooooooo inept and the front desk woman has a need to be right so she rather argue. Techs are like the keystone cops. Now I understand why he closed his second location. At the rate this new crew it going this might be their last year and it should be

They gave my doc medication that didn’t work, and now they want to charge me again to see the vet! They did it also last time.. So they gave my dog 2 shots (prob she didn’t eve nneed them) and then charged me for the second visit. Not fair, expensive.

Nicest, most accommodating vet professionals. Only people in LA I’d trust my buddy with.

My impression of Dr. Rattan is that he is genuine and honest. I never felt rushed and he always took time to answer my questions and explain things in detail. They do not try to talk you into unnecessary tests/additional costs, which is refreshing. The receptionist is also great. When I first got my puppy I was always paranoid he was sick and would call the vet. The receptionist would offer to leave a note for the doctor and would always call me back with his advice on whether I should bring him in or just keep and eye on him. I initially chose this vet because it was around the corner from my apartment. I have since moved across town and will endure LA traffic and continue to use this vet.

My 13 year old dog has been a patient of Park La Brea Veterinary Care for 13 years. We have done all of our check ups, teeth cleaning, etc from when they were a small practice. A month ago, I had my dogs teeth cleaned and requested a urine analysis. I paid for everything at pick up and was told that the test results would take 2-3 days and that they would call us with the results. Three weeks passed and I called Lisa (the office manager) to ask her what happened to my results that I paid for in advance. I expressed concern that if I did not call her, the results would have never been given to us. This was especially concerning because they know my dog has a preexisting condition. Lisa admitted forgetting to follow up on the test result and I asked her to send us the results and credit the line item for the test only since it was almost a month late. Lisa emailed my wife saying we will no longer be able to offer you any services in the future and she attached our 35 pages of records from over the years. It wasn't about the $100 results, I have paid thousands to them over the years. They made a serious mistake and were too proud to admit it. We have known Dr. Ratton for many years and this disregard for a good customer is unlike him. I am assuming Lisa never told the Dr. the truth. I asked her to have the Dr. call me because I wanted to discuss the attitude when you walk in the door, the drastic change in customer service and the feel that you are just a number when you interact with the staff. She stated that the doctor would not take a call from us. I am not looking to burn this office, but this practice has changed as it has grown and my wife and I are shocked at this managers behavior after 13 years. I would suggest sending Lisa out to be trained on customer service management, smiling/greeting customers, being truthful to clients and conveying actual messages to her boss and not altering the messages to protect her job. We are for sure done with this place and would not recommend it to anyone in its current state. End result, we never got the results of the test after being a customer for 13 years and now need to find a new vet for my old dog.

I went there for a second opinion for my cat. I would never go to this place for pet care. Not impressed with the doctor, the office or the front desk. It cost me $300 for some fluids and Pred. I would never go back.

Going to these veterinarians for 20 year's. Both locations. For me, it's the only place. They give my dog's their best care!

A horrifying experience. We brought our dog in to be euthanized. We were told we needed to pay $63 for the vet to 'see if the dog was sick enough and that the vet could lose his license if he euthanized our 16 yr old dog if HE felt the dog could benefit from medicine or other modalities to keep her alive'. Then we were told by the obviously uneducated receptionist it would cost an additional $275 to euthanize her if we didnt want her remains. And to make matters worse in the most difficult of times we were told we must pay ALL of that money in advance before we could even consult with the vet. I am fairly certain that after having my pet for 16 years i know if my animal is suffering and i if she were not suffering we would not have made that trip to the vet. This office is motivated by money not your pet. The receptionist LIED when she stated the vet would lose his license and this was confirmed by 5 other veterinary offices. This office and its staff needs a lesson in compassion.

Very nice, gentle, and reasonably priced. Kind to kitty and to us. Don't let the janky exterior fool you, they're great.

BEWARE -- Park La Brea Veterinary Care wants to charge me $64 to e-mail a couple pages of vaccine records for my dog. I have never once in my life been charged to be E-MAILED my own records, let alone $64. I could completely understand a few dollars. I spoke with the California Veterinary Board and they said that while a vet can legally set their own prices, this was the highest fee they've EVER heard of a vet charging. Stay away!!!

Love this place. Having been to many vets all over town (avoid any VCA vet at all costs, they hurt animals!), Park La Brea is thorough and helpful. I've seen both Dr. Rattan, and Dr. Eiman - and both are great. Never had a problem. Most complaints on here are about prices, but prices are high everywhere - get pet insurance! The staff has aways been courteous and helpful to me.

We've been coming here for a long time and when I had a terrible emergency with one of my dogs they guided me to the best place to handle and kept me calm when I was freaking out. Very kind people here.

My dog was in so much pain, they heard him and saw him but managed to just charge me for the visit. They didn’t want to give him any pain killers even though I wanted to pay for that. They wanted to just charge me for surgery. Lisa was very unprofessional. Didn’t even tell me how much the visit would be. She just said before you leave it will be $63 -_- for just touching my dog. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Dr. Rattan is excellent vet that takes care of our animals as if they were his own. His level of detail and exploration into issues is truly first class. He was such a gift when our senior boy Wiley (cat) was nearing the end of his road. I trusted him implicitly with all the decisions he led us to, some of which were very complicated to understand. Wiley spend a few days in his care and the vet techs spoiled him with love. With our new rescue cats he has helped us navigate several unforeseen issues and he never ever pushes undue services upon us. The office manager Lisa is incredibly pleasant. There is one front desk attendant that is rude and clearly dispassionate about animals but she rarely handles our kitties when they visit and I wouldn't let her affect the review of an overall amazing practice.

Don't let the outside of the place fool you. This is a quality vet. Pleasant staff. Some reviewer said it was expensive. Not really, I think. Recommended.
