Northwood Animal Hospital Irvine, California

I have a 82lb Doberman who hates nail being cut. I brought my dog to petco, and at least 10 local vets in the area. Noone could trim my dogs nails. I finally found a place here at Northwood animal hospital. They have a really convenient phone app. I make appointments for what I want and can see all past services and what vax need to be done. Really great because I hate having to call people.

Really great service. The vet is very nice and the staff is very helpful and always friendly. They have a discount for puppy shots in a bundle to save some money.

As the Covid pandemic settled in, appointments at vets, even emergency vets, became increasingly rare. I have an older dog and several pet rabbits. Northwood is a one hour drive from my home—but Dr Roberts, Dr Gann, and Dr Guarracino are skilled in rabbit care and will see my animals promptly. The staff is friendly, efficient, and have all info on my animals readily available. This is a great vet office! Joann Smith MD

Would have been nice to hear surgery details (spaying) without needing to research on our own, would be nicer to have more detailed discharge papers than just half a page. Some guidance is a bit ambiguous and not specific to the laser version of the procedure.

Dr. Gann saved our dog's life. She quickly and correctly diagnosed his life-threatening stomach bloating and helped get him into emergency surgery right away. Without her expertise, guidance and sense of urgency due to the severity of his condition, he would not be with us today. We cannot thank her enough!

Please consider taking your pet to a different veterinarian clinic. I sadly have experienced everything displeasing about a vet you could imagine from them: overtreating for thousands of extra dollars of unnecessary and painful tests and procedures on my poor pet, dispensing almost expired medicines requiring repeat purchases, repeated misdiagnosis and disinformation that threatened my newborn pets life and sadly super disingenuous staff to boot, including Dr Roberts who doesn’t even look at you in the eye or care to relate to you. Talk to Maria at the front desk as well and you’ll also learn the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Sadly, in sharing their work/diagnosis/care instructions with other care providers and pet societies I’ve been shocked with how wrong they’ve been over and over again. This after many benefit of the doubts later. The hospital is clearly very aware of their behavior as they recently even made emailed their clients, myself included, discussing other clients same concerns. Sadly no changes were made despite the very shallow attempt to address the concerns. This hospital really should not be listed as a vet referral by any animal societies or local shelters, they’re that unfit. Makes you wonder why the shelters list them. Please head my warning and find a different vet. “How you do one thing is how you do everything” and they do it all wrong!

I've been bringing my Rottie here for over five years. The staff is consistently professional and kind. You do get the feeling they truly care about your critter. Highly recommend.

Very friendly staff, prompt, and enjoyable to talk with, and patient in answering our questions. In addition, Internet has positive recommendations stating that Northwood is the place to go if one has pet rabbits.

I have been bringing my pets (dogs and cat) to Northwood Animal Hospital since 1998. They have always provide warm, caring and professional service to my pets. Dr. Roberts is very experienced and cares for the animals as if they were her own. I’ve always felt my pets have received the quality care they needed and deserved.

Dr. Roberts is an amazing vet! I would not trust my bunny rabbit, Holly, with anyone else. If you are in OC and have bunnies, this is the place to go.

The care Lucius received was amazing, I could really tell the entire staff loved and cared for him. I really appreciated the doctor's time answering my questions regarding his care, and I loved hearing about the staff's interactions with him while he stayed with you. For small animal owners (other than rabbits!) who may not know that they can bring their pets here: Dr. Gann and staff are always extremely thoughtful, caring, and readily available to help, and it's obvious that they care about their animal patients as well as their patients' owners. I have brought my two mice to Northwood Animal Hospital for their URI/mammary tumor related issues. Last month, I had to put down my mouse Mimi due to a large cancerous tumor, and they were very understanding and professional throughout the whole process. I also received a kind handwritten card in the mail from their office. I am now bringing my other mouse Millie in for URI treatment as necessary and every time they are very efficient and helpful. Absolutely nothing but positive things to say!

This vet was recommended to me by a friend who has been taking her dogs there for decades. We have a new puppy, so we were trying different options. This is definitely the one we are staying with. The doctor was very knowledgeable, patient, and easy to talk to. The staff were all friendly and helpful.They offer curbside service during the pandemic. Everything was fast and efficient. Best of all, our puppy seemed super happy. Highly recommend! Update: We just had our puppy spayed, and the doctor did such a wonderful job. Her pain was minimal, and we're struggling to keep her still because she bounced right back. Highly recommend this vet.

We've been taking our cats to NAH for almost five years. Even after moving, we continue to see this amazing team because we are happy with the routine care here. When we had a sick pet, they did all diagnostics they could and referred us when further exams by specialists were needed. I cannot remember ever feeling rushed or having my concerns dismissed. The doctors always take the time to explain everything they do (or recommend doing). Before the pandemic, we enjoyed boarding for our cats, the convenience of grooming services, and "entertainment" and hospitality provided by hospital's friendly pets/guards ???????????? (Dude the cat and the gang).

The whole staff is so personable and sweet. They answer all my questions and make sure I am not worried as a bunny parent. I always enjoy going here because of the amazing staff. I really appreciate them! (And I am sure my bunny does as well). They also are great at answering phones when you have questions and are really attentive to the care they give my bunny. I got the RHDV2 vaccine here and also got a check up for her/got meds for GI Stasis for my bunny. They are so helpful in lessening my worries and answering my questions. I definitely recommend!
