The worst over the phone customer service I've had. No empathy for customers or their sick pets.

3 times with two different dogs in one week. They are extremely friendly, professional. Estimates are clear and unnecessary things were not completed. Office is also very clean.

We had to bring in our 7-yo German Shepherd last October one night at 10:00 pm due to suspected bloat. Tyr was taken back immediately where an exam and X-rays confirmed bloat, and he was prepped for surgery. I appreciate that FVSEC was thorough with my husband while he was in their office, and they called us at 2:00 am immediately when surgery was finished to tell us that Tyr had a good prognosis. He stayed two nights, and both days we were called twice—once each for a financial update, and the doctor called as well for a progress report. I will refer friends here because of their proactive communication with worried pet parents.

HORRIBLE PLACE! Tried to charge me almost 4 thousands dollars to hopefully figure out what was wrong with my dog. Refused to take payments and then charged me 200$ to discharge her for absolutely nothing! They said it was for the for bringing her im and then IVS they gave her. If you don't have money they will let your dog die. Even tried to convince me to put her to sleep.

It's taken me a while to post this review but here it is. We were referred here to see one of the specialists for our kitty that was having recurring blood in his urine. We got an appointment quickly and were happy with the care he got at the time of the appointment. My only complaint is that when I wanted an honest professional opinion of the quality of life my kitten would have considering he had a liver disease that was not curable and "managing" it basically meant palliative care. That's where the communication stopped with the Dr and his patient care coordinator. Neither of them responded to my emails. We paid them over $1000, the least we could have gotten was a reply email back.

I waited 3.5 hours to be seen. Was never seen. The doctor was in surgery, that I understand. However, in those 3.5 hours, I was never checked on by a single member of staff. No vet tech came to lay eyes on the patient to make sure he was stable. No receptionist popped her head in to make sure we were doing okay. We were just placed in there and left alone for 3.5 hours. Finally just left and went to a different pet ER.

The staff is friendly, but takes a long time to be seen. I drive to visit this place,so had no choice in options. The medicine is expensive and they made me wait for the medicine for an hour.

Professional and kind. After two emergent visits with my 11 year old boxer I could not have been happier with the quality of care.

The worse service you can expect from a business. They did not show a bit of compassion when I brought my pet in pain. They made me wait for more than 5 hours in a room. Every time I asked when the vet will see my pet, all they did was to say it will be soon. What a lack of service and compassion.

So thankful for the kind and professional staff at Fresno Veterinary Specialty.. They took such good care of my dog, Oliver after horrific coyote attact. Will be forever grateful for everything they did to get him healed and back to his sweet, happy self. Thank you all! ❤️ Monica & Oliver

Friendly staff and wonderful service. The veterinarian took plenty of time with use regarding our dogs issues and options for plan of care.

While I can’t call this a “great” experience it was relatively smooth considering…My Golden Retriever had a blockage due to him eating some plastic chew toy. I did feel that the decisions and recommendations of the staff were driven primarily by dollars instead of prioritizing what was best medically. Do I recommend this place, Yes. Everyone was courteous and professional. Would I come back? Yes.

Nothing but terrible experiences here. First took my cat here by referral for diagnostics. Thousands of dollars later he was diagnosed with IBD. They recommend coming in once a week.for B12 shots, and that was it. I continued to do that, watching my kitty waste away and get sicker. Eventually made an appointment for a home euthanasia because I couldn't stand to see him suffering. The home vet examined him and talked to me about what his treatment had been. She was shocked. She recommended I take him to a vet she knew, and ask about a prednisolone RX. It's been almost 3 years and my beautiful kitty is doing so well. I would have lost him due to this place with their greed and incompetence. Another bad experience. I had to take my other kitty here because once a month they host a guest vet from the bay area who is a cardiologist's. The cardiologist was great, ended up getting a few RXs for kitty's heart condition. A few weeks later kitty started having issues with one of the meds. I called this place to get contact info for the cardiologist to get advice on possibly taking him off the medication. This place flat out refused to give me the vets contact information (I'm talking about the number for his bay area practice not like I was asking for his personal cell number) and told me to leave a message that they would give to his liaison to call me back. Never got a call back. I ended up having to talk to a pharmacist about what to do about stopping the meds. Unacceptable. A few weeks later kitty was jaundice and had to go to the ER. The vet at the ER asked me to get in contact with the vet who RX'd the heart meds because of some of the questions I had. Again called this place, and they refused to give me the cardiologists information. Again was told to leave a message for the liaison. Again I was never called back. The ER vet couldn't believe it. I am beyond angry. Avoid this place at all costs. All they care about is making money. Avoid avoid avoid.

Joke of an ER. Got there at 5:30 am ..Dumped in a back room with my dog, no updated as to when he might be seen.. half hour goes by .. I go to front desk and the girl there says it could be up to two hours before My dog is seen they don’t have enough help.. that should have been told to me when I walked in..horrible service. I left right away.

The staff was professional, competent and very compassionate during a difficult time with our dog. We were very impressed and so glad that we went to this office.

Dr. Burt & staff were very caring, kind, thorough, explained the ex-rays, sonogram showing Holly had cancer in the bones, lymphoid & other places. Dr. Burt then informed us our options. Due to the condition & pain Holly was in we chose to take Holly home & two weeks later Holly went to doggie heaven. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Burt & staff. Judith M. Armstrong & Debby

The customer service is great. The surgeons and nurses are very attentive and communicate well with their clients. I'm very grateful that they were able to take care of our dog. She went in for surgery and was ready to come home the very next day!

Waited almost three hours for them to see my cat and when they did they didn’t even fully explain everything. I honestly felt like they didn’t care and just took their sweet time . To be honest I don’t really recommend taking your pet here .

My 8yr old cat was in distress after a procedure at another veterinary office for blocked urinary. He was struggling to breathe and having a hard time swallowing. The staff was amazing. They actually cared about me and my baby. I would have preferred to take home a kitty on the mend but it wasn't in the cards. Yes, they are pricey but honestly my hometown vet is just as expensive now. They didn't try to talk me into anything. Just provided me with options and allowed me to take all the time I needed to decide how to proceed.

Worst place to ever take you’re pet. One of the ladies up front that works on the afternoons that sits on the right side when you walk in is seems as if she doesn’t know what she is doing. The doctor tells me to make a payment upfront so they can get started so i go upfront & tell her that I’m going to make a payment & she replies huh? I said the doctor told me to make a payment so they can get started & her reply was huh? & switches her head to the other side with her mouth wide open looking all lost. every time time I went up to her she said huh? As if she expected me to know what she is supposed to do. Never will I ever take my pet there and the one on kings canyon nearby McCall behind the 711 store. Well at least not in the afternoon cause the afternoon staff is the worst

My visit here was my first visit to an emergency vet clinic and the staff here has been nothing but kind and patient. It felt like the vet went out of her way to help my cat who was having trouble with his bladder. Wait times can be long but it's as to be expected on a weekend.

Kathy at Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center was very rude and abrupt when I called to inquire about their services for my injured dog. Kathy has no compassion to be working in the veterinary field. In my opinion when you work in this field you need to have some compassion for those individuals that are concern for their beloved animals. I am thankful that I did not take my dog to this facility. Who knows what kind of treatment my dog that can not speak would have received. It all starts in front the gate keeper!

Amazing experience, the staff was extremely helpful and cared for my dog perfectly she was able to give birth safely in the middle of the night. Will go here for any future emergency services.

Everyone (the front staff, Vet techs and the Vet herself) were AWESOME!!! I had to take my 11-month old kitten in because he was very ill. He had an upper-respiratory infection and his right eye was infected as well. In addition, he is about 80% blind due to two (2) previous eye infections when he was a young kitten. I REALLY appreciated the compassion and kindness with which my kitten was treated!! Also, it was VERY clear that they were more interested in helping my pet recover quickly than milking me for all the money they could possibly get from me. When my husband came to pick us up, they offered him the opportunity to come back into the Exam Room too. They even emailed me a copy of my kitten's records from his visit there. I printed it up and placed it in his file. If/when needed, we will go back. Thank you!

Haven’t been for awhile but they’ve been very compassionate and gentle in caring for my very sick dogs. I’m going back to them, hoping their services have not changed since Dr DeMars isn’t the owner any more.
