The Animal Keeper Encinitas, California

Animal Keeper has been a lifesaver for us and our new puppy. We take her to doggy day care once a week for 4 hours and she absolutely loves it. Good way to tire your pup out and get socialization. They also have competitive pricing for grooming and overnight boarding.

Everyone at the Encinitas location is wonderful and they take such good care of my little Yorkie. Fiona loves going there!

We feel very lucky to have discovered The Animal Keeper in Encinitas! First and foremost, the entire staff loves dogs! To me, that is the most important factor - that the staff wants to be there and is excited about your pet. And they are! They know the dogs by name, are always loving on them and sharing stories at pickup about anything fun or special that your pet did that day. This alone makes me feel good that they’re taking care of my pet the same way I would. The grooming service is great, the trainer on staff is awesome and our dog loves going!

I’ve been bringing my pets to The Animal Keeper for 25 yrs. and I would not trust anyone else with my fur babies. The staff is always positive and helpful. I never have to worry about the care of my dog. The best!!!

Anytime we go out of town we board our dog with the Animal keeper. She has stayed at the Poway and Encinitas locations. It’s reassuring to know she is safe and cared for while we are away. She is always happy and healthy when she comes home. Drop off and pick up are a breeze and the amount of add on packages / treats is sure to keep every dog happy and comfortable.

I have been taking my dog (Brutus, 5 years) to Animal Keeper (AK) for over 4 years now. He absolutely loves it there, and the staff love him! They are kind, courteous and professional, and always keep the best interest of your pup in mind. Brutus goes to AK about once a week for day care, and he can’t get enough! Throughout the year (e.g. Easter, Halloween, Christmas, etc.) AK offer special holiday events during daycare that you can sign up for (for example, the “Feast or Beg Hunt” around Easter, see photos!). Brutus always has a blast, and I can always trust that AK will take great care of my pooch. My parents have been taking their dogs here for boarding for over 25 years! The staff is very knowledgeable and well-trained to ensure that all pups have a safe and enjoyable experience. They also offer various grooming packages that can be done while your dog is at daycare! There is nothing better than picking up a happy, clean pup after a long day of play! The facility itself is always very clean, which I have found is often overlooked at other daycare/boarding facilities. They also offer a “touch free” drop off/pick up option. A staff member will meet you outside to pick up your furry friend, if you prefer. I highly recommend Animal Keeper for boarding, daycare, and grooming needs!

My dog Fritz stayed at Animal Keeper for 3 nights and seemed fine when he was picked up. I brought my own food and they returned the empty containers so I’m pretty sure Fritz got to eat his own food. I enjoyed the little report card Fritz came home with!

We’re excellent with our dogs. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our dogs loved them.

This was our puppy’s first experience staying overnight somewhere. Everyone we talked to and interacted with was amazing and wonderful. We took a tour of the facility and we were impressed with how clean everything was. Absolutely recommend!

I boarded my cat Reptar at The Animal Keeper for a week while my house was being remodeled. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. They were responsive when I called to check in on him. I felt great knowing he was well taken care and safe. I will definitely take my cat there again. Great people, reasonable hours and very clean and nice facility.

Bridget started going to animal keeper after Covid lockdown. She had severe separation anxiety which. As a result of playing with other furries and the care of the AK team is completely gone. I have known Kayla for over 12 years as she has moved up through the ranks to manager. Her team respects her and they love their animals. All my furries have enjoyed AK Encinitas and I think Bridget thinks that is her home and I am just her night care???????? Thanks again!!! Love you all but more B does!

Caring staff and clean facility

I recently left my 2-year-old guinea pig at the Animal Keeper while my family took a vacation. I had never taken a guinea pig for boarding anywhere so this was a new experience for both of us. She was there 12 nights and when I picked her up she looked and behaved fine, her cage was spotless, and her food and water were filled to the top. I was told that other pet guinea pigs were also being boarded during that same time so I'm sure they enjoyed "squeaking" at each other and having the company. I was very pleased with their service and care, and would definitely use them again, for my guinea pig, or for any other pet I may have in the future.

I recently boarded my Vizsla Jackson for 9 nights. This was my first time away from him for an extended period of time and as you can imagine, I was a bit hesitant and concerned as to how he would adapt. Since I was leaving the country, I had to put 100% trust in their team. Everyone that I dealt with, from start to finish, was caring and professional. I had no doubt that my dog's comfort was their top priority. Jackson enjoyed his group play and one on one time with both the staff and his new 4 legged buddies. When I picked him up he was happy and exhausted ~ you know what they say... a tired dog is a good dog! We will definitely be back & I'll recommend The Animal Keeper to my friends. Juno had his first experience staying in their doggy suites for one week. He had a Wonderful time with the fun staff & came home happy & trimmed down a bit from all the fun play (which he desperately needed). ???? We’ll be sure to use their facility in the future.

Amazing experience! Our puppy loves this place and previously was shy and scared. We felt so calm leaving her and she gets excited every time we go back. The staff is young and lovely and clearly enjoys what they do. Can’t recommend enough!

I have a 1.5 year old dachshund who has separation anxiety and is very territorial- (and is genetically just kind of a “jerk” to strangers) who had NEVER been boarded or left with anyone but me or my boyfriend…. We were terrified to board him but we were more than pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and love he received at animal keepers. We were nervous to drop him off and the people working that day were aware and called us with in 20 minutes of drop off to confirm he was ok and comfortable everything was fine…. They let me call multiples times per day for the 4 days we were gone & my pup was so happy upon our pick up it took him a minute to realize we were his owners. I was VERY scared to leave my dog & I will NEVER feel that way again. Thank you so much Animal Keepers & Staff

I felt very comfortable leaving my beagle, Buzz, with the wonderful Animal Keeper staff. He was excited to arrive and exhausted when I picked him up. Perfect!

My pups love coming to the Animal Keeper!

Our 3 year old husky, Kaia absolutely loves coming here and adores the lady at the front desk named Kayla. One of my favorite things about the Animal Keeper is they also offer grooming and have photo shoots of the dogs for different holidays. Kaia always comes home tired and happy and a tired husky is a good husky.

The staff is friendly, professional and clearly all animal lovers. Doggie day care has been great for my 9 month old puppy. It’s obvious she really enjoys her time there.

The Animal Keeper has incredible staff that loves and cares for my best friend just like I would. I don’t know what we would do without them! While we are working, our pup is happily playing with his best friends in day camp. The staff knows their pups and makes special accommodations to make sure all campers have a great experience every day!

I take my dog here to get baths, trim nails, and to give her a place to stay when I go on vaccation. The staff are so nice and helpful to both me and my dog. It is a little expensive, but I guess it is worth it for my dogs care. Overall, I like it!

My Basset loves coming here and I especially love the personalized group play before socializing as a whole group!
