Awesome service and employees. While visiting California, I needed to board my 140lb dog for a few days. I called and got great advise and was able to board him that evening. Great price as well. Would use again.

We took our dog Kiko here for the first time since moving up to Encinitas earlier this year. We went out of town for about 6 days and Kiko seemed to enjoy his stay! We loved having the cameras to be able to check on him periodically and see him out and playing with the other dogs. There was some confusion on the pricing for us as we did not realize the all day play was not included in the boarding charge of $47/ per night. On the website under the boarding section it stated that as part of the boarding each dog would enjoy their specialty food they feed if you opted for it and all day play as long as excepted into this program. The only * stated was it was price per night. I called about a month in advance to book this and had already done a test run and he was accepted into the open play room previously. When I called to book it I did let them know we wanted him to be able to play all day as well and I asked the total per night and was told it would be the $47.00 by the lady on the phone. Since she knew we wanted to do boarding and play I assumed it was included as well as from the website verbiage. We also had to sign a contract online before dropping him off and there was nothing showing a separate charge anywhere other than a extra insurance which we opted for and a treat per day. It was not until after we were charged I noticed a secondary charge of $30 per day on the receipt for the All Day Play. I did call and was told those items are set up ala carte so therefore not included in the $47.00 charge. I sent a follow up email and explained how we did not understand this and we were given a refund. We now know going forward and appreciate the understanding and willingness to refund us! I do however think that it would be beneficial to update the website verbiage with an * that all day play will be charged separately or added as an option you pick in the contract/waiver. We have done a boarding place like this previously and it was included in the pricing so we were definitely surprised it was not included and it was really $70 per night/day if you wanted your dog to play outside of the kennel. Thank you for taking care of our boy while we were away!

UPDATE: Paw Commons had reached out via phone this morning in an attempt to clear up some misunderstanding. During the call, they confirmed that instructions to give Freyja her treats was communicated and recorded but not forwarded to the staff in the back that takes care of the animals, and that they apologized for that error. People make mistake, I understand. What then changed my opinion and raised a red flag was seeing this response hours after the call that essentially conflicted with what they had admitted over the phone, in an attempt to discredit my review and putting fault on the customer. That does not sit well with me. I am now updating my original review to reflect what has since happened. And I hope future pet owners take notes. I was going to give paw commons another chance. But after reading this response for the owner, we will no longer be using their service. Do not recommend this place. We boarded our dog Freyja for three nights. When we picked her up, we found that her blanket that they allow us to bring was unused, the treats (2 bully stick and a fish skin) was also still in the bag we left with her. When we asked about why, the front desk told us that it could be she just never ate it due to stress. That’s a lie since this isn’t her first time boarding at a facility, we packed treats knowing she will eat it to de stress. If they can’t even follow the instruction we left for them, and we know they saw the treat bag since someone rewrote her name in a darker sharpie color on the bag. How can we even be certain that the extra add in we paid for was even honored since they don’t have cameras. Look elsewhere if you wish to board your dog.

This is the first puppy that I have ever had, all the past dogs were rescues. I had no idea what was involved in training, I did sign up for a San Diego Humane Society Zoom training class. It was okay, but I did not follow through and did not completely understand what I needed to do. Having a dog for probably 12 to 15 years, it makes sense to learn to train, and be consistent. I was fortunate enough to be referred to Danielle, the trainer at Paw Commons Encinitas location. Enzo, my 9 month old spend almost 3 weeks at Boot Camp. Probably the best investment I could have made. Danielle is an excellent trainer, communicator and loves what she does. She is excellent. I had to leave town and felt that training, rather than boarding was a smart idea. I checked out 4 or 5 facilities and had questions and concerns about them all. Once I spoke to and then met Danielle, I just knew that she would be my first choice. Aside from the excellent training, she kept me informed with updates on Enzo progress and challenges. I was also able to see him on video cam, and received videos of some of his training. I am looking forward to my refresher appointments and know for certain where Enzo will stay if I have to leave him. After the 3 weeks, he was happy, socialized, tired and training was successful. Thank You Danielle

I cannot say enough about the team at Paw Commons. Danielle, exceeded our expectations in every way as a trainer. We were gun shy, as having been through other training that was less than satisfactory, she was amazing! She was professional, honest, thorough , dependable and frankly life changing. Our dog, even though large and seemingly dominant, was an anxious and scared dog with zero confidence. She turned it all around. Our dog, who could not share space with any other dog without lunging, was within the space of a week, co-mingling with 30 other Dogs, and with confidence! His training created a space where he listens, complies, walks with confidence and is above all, HAPPY! Do yourself a favor and trust the team at Paw Commons and more so, give Danielle your trust. She literally changed our lives and Otis looks forward to going to daycare and seeing her, and all the friends he met when he was there. I wasted a lot of money on the wrong training, and wish I had found her a long time ago! Your dog will learn a lot and will have fun too!

Unbelievable service, super friendly staff, my pup gets so excited when we pull up, she starts jumping up and down! Great prices for what they offer; if you have a very energetic dog, there’s no better way than to get them the exercise and energy release they need! Thank you for taking care of Luna, she loves you guys!! Highly recommend!!!

Used this facility for both day boarding and overnight says. My dog was always got excited when he realized where we were going, he would jump out of the car trying to get inside faster. He loved going to hang out with other dogs and the fact that I could log in to the website and see my dog on their webcams gave me piece of mind!

I'm going to get straight to the point and urge you to go visit Danielle at Paw Commons if you are having difficulty with your pet. My mom and I took her dog Mercy to Paw Commons a few weeks ago. We adopted Mercy (Chihuahua-Miniature Pinscher mix) at 7 months old from the Helen Woodward animal shelter. After having him at home for a few weeks, it was clear that Mercy was unable to walk on a leash, respond to commands, was afraid of people and had trust issues (cue Drake song) in general. After a 2 weeks of training with Danielle at Paw Commons, Mercy came back home with the ability to walk on a leash, respond to commands and is far more at ease with groups of people and other dogs. Danielle went above and beyond to accommodate every request my mom had AND even allows Mercy to drop by for play dates. I could not recommend Danielle more highly- she is intelligent, kind, and more than qualified to help you and your pet learn healthy habits!

Hello! I've been coming to Pawcommons Encinitas for awhile now for my pup Rigby and I'm always impressed with the care and updates I receive after a day of daycare. Rachel always shares little tidbits about my dogs day and offers insight on his behavior. Becca is always super helpful and professional. The whole staff is great! I wish we could afford to come all the time! Rigby loves it here. =Lisa

friendly staff, clean reception. They noted when our very large puppy was uncomfortable with big dogs and let him play with the little ones. Appreciated progress report when I picked him up.

We love bringing our 2 pups to Paws Commons. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and our dogs are so well cared for and have a lot of fun. The pricing is very reasonable and the staff go the extra mile giving us updates and feedback on how interactive /social /well behaved (or not!) our dogs have been during their stay. We typically use Paws Commons about once per week, plus boarding if we go away, and highly recommend.

Made the mistake of submitting a request to their website. A very nice woman from their national call center quickly called me and the conversation was just like so many sales calls I've hung up on before. I didn't have to hang up on them, but it was obvious that caring for my pet wasn't the goal. The sales person simply wanted to close the deal. I could hear others delivering their spiel to other customers in the background that may have also thought that they contacted their local boarder instead of a chain looking to upsell you. "So, your dog will be in this 6x10 'suite' while you're gone for just _____ a day. And would you like your him to get out and play while you're gone for 3 hours a day or 6 hours a day? Our Platinum to package is the most popular...". Ugh. Couldn't get off the phone fast enough.

I've never had my dog act so weird as he did after I picked him up from this place. He also came home sick. We used a groupon and then they ended up trying to up charge me $128 for "platinum playtime" and a "temperament test" to which they never provided a report for or any feedback on his temperament test other than a BS statement about how he greets people.

Beware!!!! Very dishonest people who now work here. Caught them using the webcam not giving my dog the (paid) free time with other dogs as they said happened. When I picked up my dog and called them out on it, they said he must have been in blind spots......1 hour in a blind spot when I see every other dog coming and going???? Overpriced and not friendly. Will not go back!
