Seriously one the most responsive and caring staff I’ve ever taken my pet to! They take the time and care to help and assess my dog and they are so responsive and flexible with scheduling. Would recommend to anyone in the SD area

I’ve had a pleasure of having Dr. Mira as my birds’ doc for a few years while living in SD and he helped them when they were in near death conditions. (They are still going strong and healthy in their elderly years.) When I was told by another local avian vet, “the outcome will be the same (they were presuming death), don’t waste your money on them,” Dr. Mira was there still informing me of all the practical consequences/possibilities, but he was compassionate and open to trying methods I suggested based on peer reviewed scholarly articles. He understood that my birds were my family (and everything) and the decisions should be made based on all factors. I can’t thank Dr. Mira and his staff enough for all they have done for my birds during my time in SD. They are the light of SD if not of this world and I will be sure to return when/if I am back in the area. Thank you so much again!

Very quick and helpful with an emergency with my dog. They took him immediately and was able to effectively remedy the issue. They are kind and communicate well. Highly recommend.

I’ve taken my dogs here multiple times now and it’s always a 20+ minute wait. Having dogs that not only don’t like the vet, but car rides as well, is not a fun mix

I am so pleased with the service. I didn’t have appointment and my bird was so sick. They let us in and helped my bird get stable. The dr. is so nice and answered all our questions. All the staff were very kind and helpful.

I have been getting my cockatiels wings and nails clipped here since April and I love it! Very responsive and he’s not freaked out when I bring him home. Plus he gets a chance to enjoy the bird sanctuary next door.

Dr Greenfield was very patient, kind, knowledgeable, and straightforward in the diagnosis and care of our Conure. I will unreservedly trust him with my pets’ well-being. We also had a beak trim and the veterinary assistants were absolutely wonderful; gentile, professional, and effective. They did a fabulous job of ensuring our parrot was relaxed and comfortable during the trim. I’m sorry that @Jana Andreas had a bad experience but I don’t think that it’s necessarily indicative of their current staff. I will for sure go back.

This location created a very kind atmosphere that was quite comfortable. While registration of our appointment was a bit confusing, it ended up to be quick and mostly hassle-free- we got an appointment the same day, within an hour of calling (perhaps just lucky). At the office, we waited only a minimal amount before seeing a quite friendly assistant. Later, our doctor diagnosed our conure in an efficient and honest manner, without harming the bird, keeping us cheery the entire time. He saw our problem as it was, rather than jumping straight to a prescription to fix it, and led us through his thought process in a very clear manner. We will certainly come back here if we require more aid; the entire experience was pleasant.

I can't sing the praises of this place enough! They definitely earned their 5 star rating in every category, every time. I've owned birds for more than two decades. Keep in mind it is VERY difficult to find an avian specialist and someone who is willing to treat small birds. Dr Mira, and the staff at Animal & Bird Hospital, however deserve 10 stars for his (and their) genuine compassion on birds and all of our animal family members who come through their door. I haven't yet found a veterinarian who is more kind, gentle, understanding (to both the animal and the owner) and affordable than him. The staff are always willing to help out anyway they can, especially in emergency situations, and are genuinely concerned to get everything done right. There is also a large bird sanctuary on the premises which you can tour. If you're a bird owner, and any owner who wants to give your family member/friend the very best care around, look no further, and come here!!

Met Dr Mira last week with one of my big parrots. Super comfortable with the way he and his staff handled my bird. Great care and will be taking my other two in for well bird checks soon. Would highly recommend this facility

Extremely upset and disappointed with this office. I took my conure there for a beak trim. Two veterinary assistants were supposed to take care of us. Issue 1: We visited the office to get a lower beak trim. Sadly enough the assistants cut the perfectly fine upper beak. As a trained avian professional it should’ve been very clear to the assistants which part of the beak was the issue. In hindsight this also made me realize that the assistants never asked what exactly the issue was with the beak (to me it was obvious). Not consulting/clarifying with your patient what the reason is for a visit is a HUGE issue. Issue 2: Animal handling – the assistant had issues getting the bird in the towel. At one point it looked like he was about to break the bird’s wing. The bird escaped several times during the visit, frantically flying through the office. Eventually the bird got so stressed that we had to leave (without ever getting the lower beak fixed). Issue 3: One of the vet assistants seemed to be having a bad cold (runny nose and sweat on his forehead by the time we left). Highly unprofessional, unsafe and obviously not something any animal, visitor or coworker should be exposed to. While the avian vet that we met during a previous visit was very good and knowledgeable, these two assistant were not properly trained and put the health of the bird at risk. I will not go back there.

Dr. Mira is AWESOME. A great diagnostician, proactive communicator, and true lover of my 2 orange cats--feeling grateful.!!

We regret we brought our dog to this vet. What upsets us the most is that we paid $200.00 more than they disclosed the bill would be(from $290.00 to $470.00). We had read wonderful reviews and everything that you read in those reviews is true. They worked us into their schedule immediately, were very kind and friendly and took time to explain information. If the surprise extra $200.00 would not have happened, this would have been a five star review. It may have been just an off visit for us, with it taking 2 hours and being surprised with an extra $200.00 at the end. We expressed our dismay at the check-out, when we were first shocked by the price. We also called 30 minutes later, when we had processed what had happened even more. The doctor that saw our dog, Layne, called us back to express her apologies. Even if the intent was not to take advantage or to up sell, we can not shake the feeling that we were mislead.

We are so happy to bring our dog here! The vets and technicians are so knowledgable and happy to give you as much information as you want without ever coming across as condescending--they really care and want to make sure that you understand any decisions that are being made. Our dog also has such a great time when she comes for day care or boarding, and we know that she is safe and well taken care of. The staff is so great and always remember our dog whenever I call in. I've recommended them to friends who have been blown away as well--so happy to have found such an amazing vet!

The staff at at the hospital are always friendly and helpful. My pup has had the opportunity to meet all the doctors and they're very caring. We have been seeing Dr. Beail Ditsche for 6 1/2 years. We love Dr. Ditsche!

I have 2 cats and am raising an assistance dog. Drs. Mira and Havens are wonderful. My actual first experience with them was during an emergency with one of my cats at their previous practice. They were able to see me right away, help calm my fears and took amazing care of my cat's bladder obstruction. When they moved their practice to this location I did not hesitate to follow them. They continually take amazing care of my animals, and me, as the often nervous and overly cautious pet parent. All of the staff at the practice are just so friendly and helpful. You can really tell that are there because they love animals and are going to take great care of your furry and feathered loved ones. Getting an appointment is really easy, especially now that they have Sunday hours. Picasso, Matisse & Shimmy say that you can't go wrong with using Animal & Bird Hospital!!

We transferred to Animal & Bird Hospital because our vet, who we know and trust, transferred there. We are very happy with the facility and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. We are almost always seen on time and getting an appointment on the day/time we want has not been difficult. The prices are comparable and sometimes better than our previous veterinary office. We are very happy to have joined the Animal & Bird family in 2014.

We have enjoyed our boarding experiences at the Animal and Bird Hospital for our new puppy. Sometimes we use it just for the day and other times it is has been for 6 days but our baby is always excited to visit and we are always happy to have the option of picking up our dog after a bath. They seem to provide a good amount of time to play with friends and to rest. Everyone I've referred has become a valued customer.
