When all regular vet clinics were booked out til early September and my Lola pug was showing signs of obvious pain and discomfort I didn't have many options on where to go and what to do. I read reviews and wasn't too excited, but I didn't have a choice. I called at 2:30 a.m. after Lola had refused to eat drink for over 24 hours and couldn't sleep. She was whimpering, shaking, throwing up, all signs pointed to emergency visit so i drove down and they greeted us at my car. I was asked lots of questions about her age, history, current health issue. They then proceeded to explain pricing, sent paperwork via text message and took her in. It was 185 just to be seen but i look at it like a co pay and she isn't insured so go ahead. After a couple hours they were able to identify she was suffering from a uti. Prescribed her antibiotics as well as pain meds i asked for and paid extra for. They sent her urine off to a lab so ill know in a couple days what kind of infection it is but Lola started feeling better within 1-2 days after her visit at VCA and taking her antibiotics. Back to eating, drinking and causing mischief. Yes it was expensive. With intake cost of 185, medications were 40 each. And lab test and urine draw it all came out to 590. Due at that time. Her health and spunk being back up and so quickly was WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! She would not have lasted waiting for a regular vet visit. They were friendly, attentive, and explained every single step of what they were doing for her. My little family thanks VCA for being there in a pinch for our baby girl! God forbid we ever need you again, but if we do, no hesitations! Thank you!

I knew after one minute of conversation with the staff here that my cat was in great hands. They took such good care of my furry friend. Don't go to Sylvan Corners or the Kirby pet hospital if you care about your pet. Skip the hassle and just bring them here. They're the best Vet in Citrus Heights!

Very friendly, knowledgeable, willing to answer questions without seeming "annoyed", that is important! Prices are reasonable, just ask for estimates first. Just started taking our new(old) cat here, will be taking our other cat to them now!

I brought my dog in, she was more dead than alive. They saved her. She had a life threatening disease. Over the years they have saved her life more than once. She passed away at 16 years. They have also saved my cats life. Everyone there are very caring. Kathie Sterrett

I can't even give 1 star.. Totally mis informed me regarding cost even though I went over the Price and what it covered several times and was assured covered it all ..After paying them $600 Then getting there for service at 7:45 AM They tell me I owe $300 plus to continue care.....UNBELIEVABLE and I'M reporting to BBB

Best vet ever! Great team and Dr. Henricks is like the Katie Porter of vets. Does the math, gives options and does shame you. Just true sincere heart for animals and people.

Giving 1 star because in the past 2 years I've never had any issues with the staff or my dogs care, until today. 5 days ago I noticed a lump and redness on my dog's eyelid. Because it was late Saturday and they were closed, I called Monday morning. I was told they couldn't examine my dog until the following Monday...7 days. I expressed my concern about waiting that long and possibly an infection setting in. Blythe told me to call back next day at 8 to see if the Dr could fit me in. When I called at 8 Blythe told me to call back at noon. I once again expressed my concern for my dog's eye and suggested that maybe I should take him somewhere else. Blythe called me back 10 minutes later and said the Dr could see me if I was able to get there in 20 minutes. I rushed my dog there. Dr prescribed him antibiotics. When Blythe presented me with my bill she rudely stated that she charged me for an emergency visit because "I made her FEEL like this was an emergency, and it wasn't" I was shocked! I replied to her that I am not a doctor and his eyelid is clearly swollen and red and didn't want to wait a week for an infection to set in and possibly lose his eye. She attempted to argue with me stating that I originally called about his eye, not eyelid and he wouldn't have lost his eye. The irony is I felt it was an emergency so didn't have a problem paying for it. So unprofessional to treat your customers this way! Will not be back! UPDATE: Took my dog to a different vet today. Turns out the bump on his eye is a tumor and he is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning.

Yesterday, as a family, we reached the very difficult decision to have our16+ yr old Sammie euthanized. Citrus Heights Pet Hospital, even with observing the required social distancing, provided us with excellent care, compassion and kindness. Thank you to all of your staff and Dr. Brickson.

They misunderstood from the beginning of my dog’s euthanization process that I wanted her remains. After waiting unusually long for her return and a few days after their blunder, they try and hand me a box. “HERE IS YOUR DOG!” Yeah right! You can shove your chimney ashes where the sun doesn’t shine. Her paw print looked like a second-grader made it out of clay. One star is too good for them.

My poor cat had something going on with his eye and was swollen shut when he woke up. Called on a busy weekend before the holidays to see if could be squeezed in. Thankfully since I live right next door and could be there in minutes they helped my little guy out. Thank you so much Citrus Heights Pet Hospital.
