Love this place. Our fur baby just passed away but for 11 amazing year we had him we took him to Otay Pet Vets. He had several medical conditions over the years and they were always so helpful and friendly. We even moved about 30 minutes away and still continued to bring him there because we love them so much. If you live in the Chula Vista area or surrounding areas I definitely recommend Otay pet vets. Always quick to get our dog in and loved on him every time. Don't have one bad thing to say about this vet clinic.

Clean, attractive facility. Caring staff, easy parking, be sure to get directions as it is a building near, but separate from the main part of Otay shopping center !

This used to be a 5 star business. Since they expanded however, it's gone downhill. I couldn't even say who the vet is! It takes almost 2 months to get a grooming appointment! When we ask for a vet appt we never know who is caring for our little girl. All we get is "suggested" lab tests and treatments with no diagnosis, no follow up with the test results, silence. Hundreds of dollars and not a peep. We took her back again for a cough and they tried to push all types of medications and more labs. It feels like they're just pushing overpriced and unnecessary meds and lab tests with no care for our dog. Looking for another vet!

Dr. Anderson was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. They could do better when it come to scheduling but I only had 1 problem in the 5 years of coming there.

This place was awesome when it was just Anderson, but it has gone down hill. Every time we go our pet gets a new vet (more than 5 so far). We start from scratch every time, with no continuity of care. The vets outsource everything to the techs, which aren't always informed. They don't follow up, forget meds, etc. It appears this place focused so much on growth, expansion and profit that they lost what used to make them great. We recently took in our pet because of coughing and they told us they needed special sedation meds to do an x-ray, which we agreed to. A week later, with our pet still suffering, we called to follow up and were told the meds hadn't arrived, and a week after that we called a third time and they finally admitted the meds were never ordered. Of course, I don't know who to blame since I don't even know who our vet is, since it's always someone different. We haven't gotten Anderson in years. We are currently looking for a new vet.

They are awesome! From the staff to get the service is fantastic! They have been helping me care for my sweet 16 year old dog. The treatment the recommended saved her life and greatly has improved her quality of life. 10/10 recommend!!!!

My Maverick always gets outstanding care at Otay Pet Vets. I really appreciate all the precautions they have taken during this trying time keeping me and family safe while taking care of my dogs needs. I read the one star reviews and I would say that those people would be upset with any vet office they went to. Tell me the last time you didn’t wait on the phone at your medical doctors or any other vet I respond because this place gives award winning care and has been recognized year after year.

I’m writing this review after giving Otay Pet Vets multiple times to redeem themselves. I was referred to them and also was hopeful I found my local vet since there were 4 star reviews on Yelp. I was wrong and would definitely recommend pet owners to take your business elsewhere if possible! First time I took my pet to this vet, they made a mistake in my appointment time and so they had to “work” my pet into the schedule that day; the receptionist admitted to the error on their part. Instead of waiting a reasonable amount of time for my pet’s annual check up, I had to constantly call them to see what the status was as to when I could pick up my dog. I believe I waited a total of about 3 hours, and who knows how long my dog was left unattended. I informed then I was on time crunch that day because I had a customer meeting, well because of them I only had 3 minutes to spare before my conference call; I scheduled it so I should have plenty of time but because of their mistake it was stressful waiting on this vet to finally discharge my dog. When they finally said it was time for me to pick up my pet, I had to wait probably an additional 30 mins due to 2 reasons: 1. They did not have my invoice ready so that took some time and 2. I waited for about 10 mins after calling at least twice asking where my pet was. The receptionist the second time I called apologized and even said they thought they brought my dog out already....poor communication among the staff. Wasn’t too bad I guess in terms of cost, I believe with her vaccines it ended up costing my over $100. What was unexpected, because they didn’t tell me, was that her vaccine was orally given and I’d have to come back in 6 months instead of if she was given the vaccine as an injection it would’ve lasted 1 year. This detail would’ve been helpful to know in advance... I came about 3 weeks later for a follow up visit; took that long because their appointments were booked for a while. My dog had an issue and after finally having her seen by one of the vets, I was just super overwhelmed with the options that the vet presented me but also how much everything was costing. If I did all the tests and recommendations that was presented to me, it would’ve cost me over $1,000. I selected those I considered essentially and came out with $175. That would be fine if the vet came back to me with an exact problem and solution. No! I got a call and as a result I had so many follow up questions since there wasn’t a clear path to the solution. They were recommending that I look into changing my dog’s complete diet and also do more tests!! I finally talked to the vet and asked for an antibiotics treatment, and he quoted me one price. I call to say I’m picking the prescription and that receptionist tells me a price that’s double the quote! Shady if I say so myself! Once we got that corrected, they tell me that there’s a $12 service charge for the prescription; pet owners BEWARE, apparently they charge a fee for the technician to prepare the prescription. Boy, do I really miss my old vet because I never heard of this service fee before and they were more helpful than Otay Pet Vets. They were “gracious” enough to waive the fee after I told them I was going to get it elsewhere. One thing I forgot to mention when I was told that my pet tested positive for one of the tests, the rep told me over the phone that it could be a false positive due to something along the lines of contamination of the results on the way to the lab. What!??! Also, when I came to pick up the prescription I was told someone was coming out. After waiting, I called again and the person who answered apologized because apparently no one had it ready. Again, poor communication amongst the staff. I do not recommend this vet under any circumstances.

We have been part of the Otay Pet Vets Family since 2011. Grooming, Boarding, Routine Care, Urgent Care, Dog Food, Dental Cleaning, operation, Medication or just a warm hug... we LOVE Dr. Anderson & his staff and when we walk thru their doors, we are greeted with a warm welcome & open arms. The quality of care is excellent and Dr Anderson collaborates with us, in order to provide us with the solution that is in the best interest of our dogs. ????

Came in for my cat today. she is having blood in her stool and abnormal discharge in her ear, as a new client, i arrive upon appointment, Unfortunately I’m being disappointed with their service . By getting my cat a examination took me more than two hours. If you don’t have whole day, don’t consider came here. —————————————————————————— After I turned in the papers for new client to fill up, it took 20 minutes for staff to bring my cat inside. Due to my experience with other vet, I’m expecting everything should be done in 1 or 1.5 hours. I arrived and let them know I was there, that was 10:40. Staff came out and take my cat in around 11. I don’t know how long it take for doctor to check up on my cat but she called me around 12:04. the phone call took 24 minutes due to my questions, I’m still ok at this step. Doctor seemed very patient with me, answered all my question and giving out advise. ————————————————————————- I thought for check out will not take very long. Nope, I was WRONG. It took few minutes to get bills done, [staff didn’t give me the new client discount at first, I’ve to correct her.] I thought after I paid the bill then everything should be done very quickly. WRONG AGAIN. When I ask staff why it took so long to get my cat back, he said the nurse is cleaning my cats ear, I NEVER ask for my cat to get her ear cleaned. They did it without asking me. At this point I just want to take my girl home as soon as possible. I waited for another 25 minutes, Had to make phone calls start giving the staff attitude to get my cat back. Arrive at 10:40, get to leave at 1:00pm. Don’t think will ever came back again.

Really really bad, I gave the staff my pets files to keep a record of vaccinations and they told me were overdue and my dog ended up getting an extra vaccination and it made him sick. The staff member we talked to refused to give us a refund until we showed them that we did send them ours pets previous files. Overall it was a bad experience here, I’m sure the vets are fine but they need new staff or something because the person who picks up the phone or who ever is in charge of the files does not know what they are doing.

Doctor Anderson and the entire team were incredible during Bella's lifetime. Truly, they were all essential to the rewarding experience of my time with Bella. I only trust Otay Pet Vets for all aspects of animal health. Thanks for all the support during (and after!) my time with Bella. These guys are the best. ❤️

The staff here are amazing!!! They claim not to be an emergency hospital, but let me tell you they are on the frontline for our fur babies no matter what!!! They saved my fur baby’s life after she was bitten by another dog and made sure my service animal was able to return home and allow me to be able to pay overtime. Without these amazing people I would have lost my fur baby and service animal ????????????????
