The most professional, caring and compassionate staff. Dr. Bischel is one of the best Vets in San Diego. My dog is in the very best of care at Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic. I trust them with his life. ❤

Do not except Pet Assure. I only went to this vet because they were listed on the PetAssure website. When I attended my June appointment, the girl at the front desk said that they stopped honoring the PetAssure discount back in January. I told her they were still listed on the website and asked if there was any sort of discount they could give me. She said no. I still went ahead with the appointment and the girl said she would talk to the Doctor about getting their name taken off the list. The vet was awesome and he called me to discuss my pups first appointment. The front office staff weren't rude, but they seemed put off when I asked them for an estimate. A week later, I sent an email to PetAssure customer service. They were shocked to find out that the discount was not accepted, because Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic had made no attempts to be removed from the list. I just checked again, and they are STILL listed on the PetAssure website.

I’ve called 3 times and have been hung up on every single time. This clinic is so unprofessional and just rude. I don’t doubt they don’t even take care of the animals. Do not make and appointment at this vet. I REPEAT. DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT THIS VET. They said they would call back and did not. so rude

Love this place & so does Tanner & Sylvester. Chelsea (groomer), Dr Bischell (sp?) are awesome. Our fur babies are in great hands here. ❤❤

I mainly go here for grooming services. I have a golden doodle that needs a ton of care for in regards to his fur, and honestly there's nowhere better. Take your dogs here for grooming, they'll be treated like royalty and dogs with difficult coats are accepted.

My wife and I took our service dog for a full grooming on Friday March 19, 2021. Our dog is a standard poodle. We received a telephone call at 12;05 from the groomer at Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic stating she had a painful eye injury and would not be able to finish the dog’s haircut – she was halfway done. The groomer said the soonest she could finish the haircut would be on 3/29, 10 days later. My wife and I asked if there was anyone else available to finish the haircut or if we could bring him on Monday but she indicated she was booked until 3/29. We received the call to pick him up at 12;05 and she mentioned the clinic was closed but we could pick him up at 2pm when the clinic reopens after lunch. So, I wait two hours to pick up our dog. At 2pm, my wife and daughter went to pick the dog and his body was trimmed down but his legs still had his grown out shaggy hair as did his face, neck and tail. We again asked if anyone could finish his haircut as he looked quite silly. Again we were told no one had the time. The receptionist then proceeded to process payment. We stated we would be willing to pay when the job was completed. We asked to speak with the owner, the Veterinarian Dr. Bischel. She was available by phone only so she had not seen the dog’s half haircut. Her first sentence, “why do you not feel you should pay?” There was no apology from Dr. Bischel and no attempt to rectify the issue. We stated we would pay when the full grooming was completed and she then let us know that the dog would no longer be welcome at her place of business. While we can appreciate Dr. Bischel’s loyalty to her employees, we wonder about her loyalty to her customers, as a disabled veteran with a service dog, I have used her services for well over a year. To say that this experience was a shock is truly an understatement. Dr. Bischel and her establishment were rude and inconsiderate – very poor customer service!! We are not surprised to see a rating of 2.5.

DO NOT GO HERE! A friend of mine took her puppy to be spayed here by Dr. Ginny Bischel. Bischel botched the surgery/sutures and the puppy had to be rushed into emergency surgery at another clinic. Bischel did not adhere to the Veterinary Medical Code of Conduct and refused to treat the puppy for spay complications she completed at her facility that she owns, even though asked the day of the surgery (9/25/20) and additionally (9/29/20), appointments and service were refused. Bischel and her staff made fun of my friend and her family for being concerned for their furbaby who could have died as a result of Bischel’s negligence. Dr. Ginny Bischel lacks a sense of reality, professionalism, and dishonors her Veterinary Medical Code of Conduct. Do not go here!!

Dr. B kept calling my cat a HER vs. HE, she didn’t know what was wrong with him. I felt she didn’t even exam him at all. Clinic looked so busy, my poor little guy was there for 5 hours! did not feel any better after. I had to call the office three times to get an update. Don’t deserve the one star.

I would give no stars of I could. We adopted a puppy from the shelter and received a free follow-up vet appointment. Eastlake Vet was on a list of veterinarians who provide the follow-up visit. Our appointment was scheduled for 10am. When we arrived there were four other people/pets who also had 10am appointments. At 10:45 they finally took our pup and we were told to come back later in the afternoon. At 2pm we called to find out when our dog would be ready and were told "she's next in line" and they would call us back in about 20 minutes after he check-up was done. After only 10 minutes they called us back to discuss her check up. We were told she had an ear infection, which we knew about when we adopted her, and that she would need to be sedated so her ears could be cleaned. We opted to but the meds and clean her ears ourselves. When we arrived to pick her up along with the meds, we were charged a "cage occupation medication", a sedative to keep her calm in the cage for four hours. Our dog should've been seen at 10am as scheduled, especially since the exam only took 10 minutes. She shouldn't have been held in a cage for four hours and sedated without our consent. And why would she need to been sedated again to clean her ears? I've never had this kind of experience at any other vet's office. Unacceptable and unprofessional. Terrible!

Dr. B is cool and i understand the office is close for lunch but for more than an 1 hour? I live further away and drive to this vet's officer for the good service. I arrived at 12:40pm and noticed the close sign. I then got coffee, gas and did some shopping at Target and came back and waited a bit and checked the door at 1:40pm and its still locked. is now 1:46pm and still close. what the hell. now I have to find another vet to get dog food that I can only get at a vet's office. wasted my freaking time.

Dr. Bischel is completely unethical and unprofessional. She mistreats animals and owners, read several other negative reviews for yourself. If you care about your pets, do not take them here.

Great Vet Clinic. Everyone there really cares, is helpful, and the Vet seemed very experienced. Our dog gets car sick and we live too far away, but I wish this was our main clinic.

The staff here are uncommunicative with customers and each other. The last time I was there, I called ahead to verify that my foster dog had a time slot open. The person on the phone seemed confused, even though this had been scheduled ahead of time, but said I could bring the dog in. When I got there, I went through the whole list of things to be checked with the dog and the person at the front desk wrote it all down and took down my name and phone number. I never got a call back, so I called them as closing time approached (this is not the first time I have had to call them repeatedly for answers or to find out what's happening with my foster dogs. Why bother taking down my number if you aren't going to call?). They told me they would be keeping my foster dog overnight because the vet hadn't had a chance to finish everything. The next day, I received no calls and finally, nearing their closing time on the second day, I called to check in. They said the dog was ready to go home (why didn't they call me??). I asked about everything (did you cut her nails, did you check her ears for infection, did you take her stitches out, etc.) They had not done a single thing I asked them to do. Why did they have the dog for 30 hours if they weren't taking care of her?? They didn't ask if she was on medications to make sure she got them when staying there overnight. They didn't call me, even once. They had no idea of any of the reasons I had even brought the dog in in the first place. I finally went to pick her up and it wasn't until after I arrived, 31 hours after dropping the dog off, and once again went through everything to make sure they had done it, that they decided to check and clean her ears. Whatever they are doing at Eastlake, it's not putting the animals first and certainly not caring a jot about owners, rescues, or foster parents who need information and communication.

Nice office, clean, friendly staff. They offer competitive pricing to other vet services nearby. I went in to see if they had a monthly care plan for specific services. They didn't offer a plan per say, but do have a breakdown of services "menu" I think they are a great option for those trying to get good quality pet care.

Update July 2019: We've been going to Eastlake Village Vet Clinic now for more than 8 years. We still drive the 70 mile round trip to have our dogs treated and groomed there. When you find the right place and the people to care for your pets you just trust them and it's worth every mile. It's true, you can't please everyone. However, I can assure you from first hand experience that Dr Bischel cares for her patients. She also expects the best from her staff and she treats them well too. So please don't be deterred by those who have left negative feedback. We still HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr Bischel and her staff. Our dogs are our family, so we take this seriously. We've been going to this clinic with our dogs since 2011. Not only is this the only place we'll go because we trust Dr Bischel, but we also go because the staff is friendly and always look to help us all the time. If you love your pets, as we do, you'll go to see Dr Bischel. Our most senior dog just turned 15 years old. I promise you that he wouldn't be here or be as healthy if it wasn't for Dr Bischel caring for him. Everyone here loves all pets and want nothing short of the best care for them. Oh, and if you need a caring and highly professional groomer, then look no further. Chelsea does all of our dogs, and again, I will not go anywhere else to have them groomed. Our dogs look as if they've gone to a groomer that would charge more than $200 each. Chelsea charges the standard price and gives your pets the royalty treatment. We always tip her too. She's more than worth it. Don't just take my word for how great this clinic is, go check it out for yourself. By the way, we drive at least 35 miles one way to go here. That's how much we trust and value the care our pets receive. So we highly recommend EASTLAKE VILLAGE VETERINARY CLINIC!!!

Let down by the front counter and "manager". Its a hassle bringing in 2 dogs for grooming and as such, in my haste, I forgot my paperwork at home. My fault. I live across the street from the place. I asked if i could just have them stay there while i get the records...literally no more than 5 minutes time is all I asked.... nope, nada, no help for a neighbor. I only came here because Frida is a great groomer but the rest seem cold. Customer service be damned.

Dr. B literally saved both my animals lives. I am SO happy I switched them over to her care. My cat had an eye deformity that other doctors didn't seem to care about. Dr. B immediately knew what to do, performed surgery & now my cat can see better & is so much happier. I almost lost my dog due to severe kidney failure, but Dr. B did not give up hope, she provided such wonderful care to my dog & was able to 'jump start' his kidneys & now we have more time with him. The staff is so nice, caring & professional, Dr. B has so much love for animals & is such an amazing doctor, we are so lucky!

This place is amazing---great service and doing good for the community! I am a difficult client and they have been professional to me and more importantly, provided excellent care to my canine kid. On another front, I didn't believe it for a couple years but Otay Ranch and Eastlake has a hidden feral cat problem---heartbreaking that these poor starving cats and kittens who live tragic lives and usually die from malnutrition and exposure to heat, rain or landscaping chemicals/poisons because of human actions (or inaction)---but this wonderful vet will spay/neuter ferals that you can humanely trap and bring in as a service to the community. Spay and neuter---and if you are looking for quality veterinary care, consider this vet!
