The young ladies at this place were really nice and were able to take me on very short notice which was extremely helpful and very much appreciated! They did a terrific job on my lil Maltese and he wasn't traumatized like he is from some other groomers. Plus they are all a buncha cuties! ???? There was a dog on every table and they were all smiling and wagging their tails.

I tried Karen’s for the first time last week with my labradoodle, Milton. Yesterday, at The Forum, he was turning heads! He even stopped traffic! A woman rolled down her window to say, “I think you’re starting something!” I went to Karen’s with some specific and unusual grooming requests. I wanted a mohawk for my dog to have a long haired “petting stripe” for my kids and a short haired summer cut for his comfort. They executed this perfectly! His face was trimmed not too short, but just right for cuteness balanced with cleanliness. The most important thing is that after grooming at many other local salons, Milton always comes home with what we call “body shame”. He did not display this behavior after his visit to Karen’s. He is usually uncomfortable with his cut. He circles and sits down a lot. He rests a lot, curling up into a circle. These are efforts to hide his rear. After Karen’s, no body shame whatsoever! I think I’ve found my new groomer!!!

I worked here for almost two full years and I will tell you exactly the type of people who work here... first of all they are all a family, everybody here LOVES dogs, and everyone works together perfectly. Never had problems with eachother. All of our clients are extremely loyal and i will miss all of them with all of my heart. We just created so many bonds with so many dogs as well as their owners. This place I can guarantee you will take amazing care of your pups. Boss will probably get mad at me for leaving a review since the costumers are supposed to do that haha... I could not resist bragging about this place. One of the best jobs I have ever had . For those of you who know me, I will miss working with your dog. I also made amazing connections with the owners which was really amazing but it made it even harder to say goodbye. 10/10 this is the place you are looking for if you want a safe environment with a talented team for your dog.

I have a beautiful Japanese Chin (see pic), Karen's always does a wonderful job with her. They make her look stunning and always do so with a friendly attitude, strongly recommend!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the owner Angela and her incredible staff. They are a delight to work with and will listen to exactly what you want. It was our pups FIRST cut and Angela did such a great job!! I showed her pictures of what we wanted and she made it happen! I also think it’s really important to highlight that the staff and owner really love animals! I felt like our pup was being cared for and looked after. Scheduling was easy and my dog was done with his grooming exactly when they said he would be. Drop off was simple (even with COVID), I called when I arrived, and they came out and got him. When I picked him up, they brought out the card machine and I was out of there in 2 minutes. I am a client for life and will be spreading the word about how wonderful these folks are and the quality of their grooming! Thank you, Karen’s Custom Grooming!

Brought our 9 month old puppy in. Covid rules so we parked at the curb. Our puppy does not like people with masks on. But Right from the start I could see our puppy was comfortable with the young woman in a mask to pick her up from the car. That made me feel much better. When we picked up our puppy she was happy and had a very nice Halloween cape. Very happy.

They are really good with all dogs, and they do an excellent job on my mini poodle. He's gone in there looking a mess when I haven't been able to get him in on time... they never judge, are always welcoming, and he comes out looking amazing. Highly recommend!

Karen is the best! Our Chihuahua won't let anyone else cut her nails except for Karen.

Small, owner-operated pet grooming. Very busy, so reservations are a must. Pets are groomed in front of everybody, which is good to see that they are not mistreated. The dogs are always well groomed and it has a very loyal clientele.

They love my puppy, and my puppy loves them! BeaArthur always has a great schnauzer cut when we go, and everyone I’ve interacted with has great customer service.

My dog is scared to death of this shop! She slams the brakes on and refuses to enter. They accidentally cut her once, stating they didn't realize it, after I got her home and found the cut. They didn't notice?! I'm SURE they heard her scream!!! Also, highest price groomers in Carlsbad. They create the dogs for 8 hours! Never again! I found Julie, from Fur Reel, also in Carlsbad. She let's you drop off and pick up as soon as she's done. No crates. Amazing attitude, girls at Karen's, mainly Karen, can't even smile! Run!

My grumpy old guy usually has to be muzzled to get his nails clipped if I’m not right there, but this awesome group makes him comfortable enough for that not to be necessary. He was clean and shiny and happy when I picked him up!!

My boy always looks fantastic after a day at the "spa". The best part is he's happy when I drop him off as well as when I pick him up. They treat him so well.

I brought my dog to Karen's grooming for awhile. Everything was fine baths trims etc. one day as we were leaving my dog was walking out then stopped and sat as he left the store. I look him over and someone has shaved him so close to his "buttock" private area it was red and showed light blood truly a horrible razor burn. I asked and Karen herself had groomed him that day, she made no excuse and said the dog was being "dramatic" and it wasn't that bad. I have never been back something is seriously wrong with this groomer. Mistakes can happen (this took two weeks to jea with antibiotics) but the attitude and lack of apology was disgusting.

My dog's run toward the garage when I say, "Who wants to go to Karen's?" I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Litter mates....who are nearing 13 years of age. We moved to Carlsbad about six months ago. I was referred to Karen's by the lady who sold me her house in Aviara. Karen and her crew are so good with my "girls". My dogs were used to regular grooming appointments...so that wasn't new. Their excitement about going is a very new thing. They now have a standing appointment every week.

I took my 2 Shih Tzu's to Karen's groomer. The price is reasonable and the cut was decent. After picking them up and taking them for a walk, I noticed one of my dogs licking blood from his mouth, onto his chin. Upon closer examination, I was horrified to see that his tongue was cut about a quarter of an inch from the tip and bleeding profusely. I immediately took him to the vet, and promptly went back to Karen's grooming. I asked who cut my dog's hair, a lady came forward, and I asked her if she accidentally cut my dog's tongue. She said she did, and I asked her why she did not inform me. She thought it wasn't serious. Wasn't serious? His tongue looked like a snake cut in middle like that. Anyway, I was upset, and asked to see the owner. She wasn't in store, and later called me on the phone, and said she will refund me the cost of his grooming. She did not seem apologetic, and when I asked about the vet bill, she said she would not cover it. I told her at the very least she should cover the vet bill, which wasn't that much anyway, and also told her politely that she should encourage her workers to tell the owners if they accidentally cut the dogs (or cats) they work on, she said all her employees are honest and that the lady who cut my dog did nothing wrong. I asked her if she didn't see anything wrong in not informing me of the massive cut on my dog's tongue, she said she didn't. I was disgusted. This was the worst grooming experience in my dog's life, it was a terrible customer service experience, and I got the impression the owner didn't care.
