Banfield Pet Hospital Carlsbad, California

We’ve been Banfield customers for a while and I feel like they are starting to loose their shine. It frustrates me that you must wait for your pet outside upon checkout, when the waiting room is plenty big for social distancing. Pet plans are convenient for everything routine, but prices jump quick when an extra test or procedure is necessary. It seems like the Veterinarians change all the time, when it use to be a set team that knew our pet. Don’t expect too much above average.

Excellent care! The doctors were very caring and helpful with my elderly Great Dane who was waking me repeatedly at night and having lots accidents. Let's hope the meds help!

Love the staff here, Dr Rydel is super helpful, informative and takes her time explaining everything that is going on with your pet.

Usually great, but made a scheduling error and didn't inform me. We ended up haveing to wait an hour after our scheduled time for a vet tech.

Will not be returning. Tried to push several times for service that I didn't want or need. Brought my dog in for an exam and vaccines had to come back for the booster 3 weeks after and they charged me for another exam for the 5 minute booster. Just want your money. I called several other offices and they all said they would not charge for that. Also still requiring masks even though you can't go in with your pet for the booster/exam or even wait inside.

The vetinarians really care for your pets and remember them!

This places should not be called Hospitals but rather pet salons! We've used the Banfield Hospitals for about 8 years now and were pleased at first. We would only go there for routine checkups, teeth cleaning, vaccinations and so on. As our pet aged, it became harder and harder to get appointments there unless it was for any of the routine visits I mentioned. The doctor (yes, there is usually only one doctor at the time there) seems to always be overbooked and we were most of the time told to go to the emergency centers, which can also be overbooked. We saw a constant push towards more and more expensive tests and procedures, and less and less concern about pet. We've paid for their wellness plan (monthly) and now that our pet passed away we were told that we are still on the hook to pay for the rest of the year since this is an annual contract. Absolutely appalling! I would give them 0 stars if I could. Find a local vet and avoid the Banfield centers if you can.

FLAKEY! Disorganized and unreliable. I mad an appointment and received an email confirming it. And then I receive a call to confirm my appointment for a time I'd never booked, and they indicated they had NO record of my original appointment and just kind of said "sorry" and were unable to reschedule me for the day I was in town.

I have come here a few times and been very satesfied. This time I spent $300 for tests because my cat was vomiting. well, several days later and no change I went back to talk to vet. I asked if he could phone me and that was 5 days ago. They also gave me a quote for my cat's horrible teeth of $1200-$1800. I had them done at Kahoots for $175. He needed No extractions. The banfield office is very close but the money I just threw away wasnt worth the convenience.

Dr Clark is an amazing veterinarian, she is so attentive, caring & understanding. She not your average Vet, when I mentioned a study that I read about for the possible treatment for my dogs illness, she immediately stated she would take this time to do research on it to learn if it might be a possibility to help him. I'm so impressed with not just her, but with the kindness and caring nature of the staff members I've dealt with this far. So glad I changed locations.

Both my kittens were sick, and I was able to fit them in for a same day appointment. When I got there, the receptionist and nurse went out of their way to accommodate and help make my bad day a little better, even when I had to wait an extra hour after my appointment time for the vet. The vet was knowledgeable but a little turned around about which cat had what illness. And at shift switch, it took them another hour to realize my paperwork for discharge hadn’t been completed yet. Overall, a 2.5 hour visit to the vet for a checkup that started off kind of great and ended kind of terrible. Plus, Banfield is rather expensive! I needed the meds right away, but I was paying triple what it would have cost to order online. Probably will only return for again for urgent care situations if I can find same day appointments, not emergencies or routine check ups.

The vets and nurses are absolutely lovely and really genuinely care about the animals. The parking at La Costa isn't great.

Great vet! Everyone here is so nice and professional. Dr. Stoehr is the best! Thorough and knowledgeable and really cares!

After having a bad experience at Oceanside Banfield we went here. Our dog was seen by a vet who knows what their doing. Can't recommend a better vet, very professional.

Every one is so friendly, caring and happy here! They thoroughly explain everything and treated my lil kitten like the princess she is. Very caring & helpful doctors & staff I drive a lot further to see than the Banfield nearest to my house!

The staff that works here is 100% amazing. Bar far the sweetest people o have met. And they truly care about your pets. I will never go to another place again.

Beware of Dr Julie Goodman. Banfield has a entire page of people who she had harmed their dogs which banffield removed & started a new google page. She was abusing dogs and pulling teeth without permission. She removed my pets teeth without permission during a tooth cleaning like others said , clearly she is sick and has a strange addiction to removing dogs healthy teeth for her own thrills. My pet was treated very poorly By dr Goodman and I would never have allowed her to remove all those teeth and be left with bleeding gums!

Clean, on time and very good service

My dog was looking and feeling great when she left. She had a comprehensive exam and dental cleaning and her teeth look the best they've looked since she was a puppy.

Good care but really exspensive!!!

I had a pet who was in pain and needed a prescription refilled. The Banfield in Carlsbad is the location where the vet who treated my dog now works. Her name is Dr. Goodman. I called on Tuesday to ask for a refill. I was told by the person who answered the phone that she “understood” my plight but Dr. Goodman would not be in until Thursday. I pleaded about getting a message to the vet sooner, and I was informed by the “understanding” receptionist that it was against their policy to contact the vet by any means during their days off. Great policy for customer service. I was in formed that the vet would get my message right away on Thursday morning and would call me first thing. It’s now late Saturday afternoon and I still have not received a call. This organization does not care about pets! They are more than willing to do expensive tests on your pet to increase your bill. Stay away!

They are extremely understanding and very helpful. Everyone is so polite and I love how the person up front engages with the kids. I know when I was there a pet was having some kind of emergency and the person up front managed to help calm the kids down and get extra help from the staff quickly. Than after explained to us ,for those who were waiting, some of the options for us and just repeatly thanked us for understanding. Although it was so quick everything was done in a way I would hope would be done for my pet if that was my situation. Overall just impressed on how attentive the whole staff was even during a lot! This make me I trust in them and how they handled everything so professionally! Amazing!

This is the absolute best location. They are a great help keeping my fur babies happy and healthy. Plus they are just the nicest people.

Dr. Witt is thorough and carefully explains options. He seems to genuinely enjoy his job!
