I took my puppy to see the doctors after a week of taking my dog to get her 2nd round of shots. My dog had been fussy and crying ever since she received her shots. I then made an appointment at the clinic to see if she was reacting to the medicine wrong or something. I took her in this Friday. 1/28/2022. After taking her to see if she had any problems or complications the doctor comes outsides and tells me In summary. The puppy is fine and is just behaving normally like a puppy should. It only being a week since she got her shots I thought maybe she had inflammation or something but no the doctors assured me she is fine and not to worry. I’m sad to say my poor baby died that night. I took her home she had been sleeping and eating regularly then all of a sudden start to shake, I run to the car and take her to the vet and unfortunately I didn’t make it. Half way there and she went stiff and cold. I’m speechless. I don’t know whether to be mad or sad right now because honestly, I wish I could’ve done more. What upsets me is this happened within hours of seeing the doctor. To anyone reading this I hope you never know what it feels like to take your dog to a place of healing and then it dying on you that same day. I have no words right now. All I can say is, it shouldn’t have been this way :(.

I like this vet for their help with my animals, but it is nearly impossible to get someone to answer their phone. ????

This place is amazing. So incredibly accommodating and the doctor is great. Completely affordable compared toany vets in San Diego county, and you can tell they take great care of your fur babies!

Dr. Mondares is the best! She always does a really thorough exam of my pet, and always answers all my questions!

My wife was there for an appointment about a month ago on a cold and windy day. The staff asked her to wait outside, she asked if she could wait in the car and was told 'no she had to wait outside the front door'. My wife left because she was not comfortable waiting out in the cold and wind. I just called to make an appointment for my other two pets and was informed that the doctors did not want to do business with me because of the previous interaction.

Staff was very nice/concerned for our chihuahua! He was very old and had to be put down the Dr was really sweet ! I Recomend this place in th past I've had 3 other pets and I can also say they again were very nice and prices were half of another place I called to get estimates for the same issue!!

Fairly fast service but too expensive- ( 5.00) for a waste disposal fee? ???? My dog didnt go in there to go to the bathroom, besides he just went right B4 we got there!! They could've dropped it outside the' door and I wouldve cleaned up for free????????

They don’t answer the phone

I have been using Bonita Pet Care the las 6 yrs never had a problem till year. Phone calls not being answered, scheduled appointments getting delayed, requesting to speak to Vet or someone in charge regarding a complaint and no one available to discuss my complaint or concern. I’ve requested a copy of shot record 3 times and I still haven’t received it. I call and call never and an answer I use someone else phone to call and they answer. I fell staff knows I want to Speak someone and are all avoiding me. I keep being told they are understaffed. Mayeli the receptionist I’ve spoke to the most is obviously not trying to help me all I want is my shot record and to get charges taken out for Vet not seeing my dogs since receptionist did not take notes that I would bring my second dog to appointment when I confirmed appointment. This was and urgent matter and the dog that had the urge matter could have been seen instead they turned me away after waiting 45 minutes to be seen. All I want is for staff to be what they wore before professional and take accountability. And I want my shot record. Still waiting on response.

First time at a Vet's office in a long time, but I felt the staff was very empathetic to that and answered all my questions. I came in with a stray, and they didn't have much to work on as far as past history. I feel good about the care my Daisy dog got. I will come back again.

They prescribed my dog Phenobarbital and did not give us any symptoms he may have or symptoms to take him to the emergency room for. My beautiful 5-year-old husky died 2 weeks after they put him on Pheno.

I called to get a oral flea medication, a young inexperienced girl answers and says they gave topical which I just told her I don’t use, then I ask to talk to someone In charge she says there isn’t anyone. I’m so disappointed I need medicine for my poor cat who’s suffering from fleas and they said a week and it’s still not in stock. Very annoyed.

It should have been communicated that pet owners aren't allowed in during visit when appt was scheduled, especially a new client first time visit. The lady tells me that my pup will get shot and exam. I find this strange when you don't even have a history recorded to know whats appropriate or needed. Furthermore as a pet owner my concerns for my pup wasn't even a consideration. Poor communication sets a negative tone for me I definitely won't be coming back.

After taking my cat there for treatment because he was itching and pulling his hair out I ended up paying quite a bit of money to come home and Him doing the same thing I tried calling the office nobody answered I finally emailed them and one week later I get a response so I called and finally someone answered l Tried to tell her what was wrong and she got upset and hung up on me very rude very unprofessional if you can’t work with the public you shouldn’t be in that field

I usually don't have an issue with this place but I've been having more problems with them every time I go back. I had an appointment with the email date and confirmation text and they told me they rescheduled without notifying me. The lady at the front was very rude, I've never been helped by her before and she said she would never write that down for no reason, couldn't take responsibility for her own screw up. I was never called about the change in the appointment. The vet that usually sees my dog is very nice and I appreciate her but they need to get their front desk in check because they can't change dates without informing us and need to learn how to handle people better.

Wow! The staff here have been very friendly and communicative when bringing my pets! My cat had a cyst on his tail after monitoring it they removed it and his tail looks amazing! They do an amazing job taking care of my family!

I have two dogs, a 5 year old female German Shepherd Dog and a 5 month old male Belgian Malinois. Dr. Mondares and her staff are attentive to my concerns when I call and are good with follow-up with my calls and visits. Veterinary care is not cheap. The prices are fair for the care that is provided. I was living in Spring Valley when I first brought my dogs here. I now live in Santee and will continue to take both of my dogs to Bonita Pet Care Animal Hospital. I highly recommend going here for your pet needs.

Good for just the 45 dollar check up but they charge almost quadruple what WalMart petrx charges for meds. They became very rude and upset when I decline the meds due to their rediculous prices. All I want is them to give WalMartPetRX my scripts when they call.

The reason for giving a star is They take for ever to answer the phone And once they answer they put you in hold Normally for over 10 minutes And when you show up for the appointment The same situation The nurses in general are ok Not the best customer service

Looking forward to the day that I can meet my vet face to face social distancing and mask of course

First time at this veterinary clinic I did talk to the doctor who came out to my car to tell me what was happening with my dog. My vet that I have been going to for years didn't want to have any contact with people. So, I thought forget it I'll go some where else. The amount of money I've spent on my Pup pup he should at least wear a mask and 6ft. Apart should be ok. He has been closed over a year.. spring Valley vet clinic just isn't the same. I waited for his that night and he never called. I am very disappointed with Gary Simpson.

The staff are very friendly and there to help. The health care is better than some other places I've been too, The only problem I had is they didn't tell me about the bandage around my cats arm, and her hand swelled up very large and it just was kind of scary other than that is all good

Well, I cant really give a true star rating until next time since its my first time there. With covid restrictions, its hard to not go inside with our dogs to see the actual doctor one on one. Everyone still has to wait outdoors not knowing exactly what the office looks like inside or what they doing with our furkids. So far my dogs got their annual shots. Prices seem ok. Lets see how it goes next time.

Dr. Mendarez is the best Vet we've ever had. She's taken care of our dogs for a few years now and she's helped us through some of the worst times with our last dog. I recommend this place 10 times out of 10. I appreciate you guys!!!!

I really appreciate Dr. Mondaris. She takes excellent care of my dog Lizzie. I trust her totally. Actually all the vets are wonderful at Bonita Pet Care Every time I go there I take their cards so I can share them with other pet owners. It's important to know that they are open on Sundays! Dr.Mondaris sits on the floor with Lizzie and just holds her and loves her first and then we talk about any issues.
