Took my dog here 5 years ago he was sick and they did ok then although it was far from affordable, this time it was time for him to pass on after 14 wonderful years I called ahead to arrange the details the woman who answered had absolutely zero sympathy for what I was going through after pulling up his file she told me to call the Vet that I had been seeing for the last 5 years they had no openings, any animal agency that has that attitude will never see me there ever again.

terrible vet. absolutely so rude over the phone. has given us a completely difficult time with everything we need here. i needed to bring my dog in for shots and they had the owner set as my mother, but i already switched his ownership to mine and they talked to me as though i was stupid. i wouldnt be surprised if they just lost the records. im trying to transfer to coffee road and so far they have not sent my dogs records to me or the place when i asked 3 days ago and they said it would take “24 hours”. at least coffee road vet is trying to help me out and being super nice about it. not only this but as for “affordable” they have always made up unnecessary charges when we went there. you can even tell how rude they are in theyre responses to the reviews. stop trying to defend yourselves and do better ????????♀️ (6 months later i have been using coffee road pet hospital which is beyond better than this place. no crazy fees or issues with appointments and everyone is SO nice. if u have an issue they reply “im sorry please call our manager so WE can FIX our issues” which is obviously something this place never does. i used to hate taking my dog to the vet because of how extremely rude this place was and because of extra fees they add on for no reason. coffee road pet hospital is the opposite. highly recommend switching if you havent or never trying this place at all.)

Extremely rude and not helpful. I do not recommend this place at all. Not only are they rude to you on the phone, but in person as well. Very unprofessional

Well I'm looking for a vet to have my cat who is over 10yrs checked, but after reading the reviews I decided to go elsewhere I'm sorry for all your poor treatment of your fur babies ????

I haven't even called this vet yet but by the responses of the vet just speaks for itself... non caring and ot wanting to take the blame for anything... this is sad cause people with animals are at the mercy of vets for help when their animals are sick and if any pet owners are like me their pet is the world to me and I would spend every penny to take care of him... so a note to the vet if u read this stop and read hour responses to people that u have already wrote...

I hate this place, I went to get my dog spayed and she came to with an open incision. I hope to never see this place ever again. I will not be coming here any longer.

I called this place to have my very sick dog seen. The lady that answered was EXTREMELY rude. She was adamant on NOT being helpful. I wish I had gotten her name but I was so upset by the way I was being talked to. I will never bring any pet to this place!

Called trying to get my dog seen ASAP first asked to hold no problem I can hold then when lady gets back on phone she ask “are you a current customer of ours” no ma’am I’m not “in that case call us back in an hour” umm ok wasn’t a current customer and won’t be a new one can’t take 30 seconds to answer some basic questions ridiculous

I called in reference to a dog of ours and I explain the details of what was going on with our dog. The person who answered the phone just shunned the matter as if she didn’t care she went straight into telling me what the hours are for their clinic. Very unprofessional, very rude and then she’s gonna let me place you on hold when I was upset because she was very rude with me. I will never refer anyone to this hospital and I would never take my dog there. not after what I just experienced

It must be a full time job responding to every negative review. Maybe this place should take the criticism and adjust their practices instead of defending everything and not taking responsibility. I brought in a stray dog who was suffering and needed to be put to sleep. It was over $300 for me to euthanize and I was $20 short. They made me call and try and find someone to give me $20 before they would euthanize. I had to have a family member go deposit money in my bank while this stray dog is gasping for breath from distemper. Then literally while I’m holding the dog and they’re about to inject him and euthanize, she stops and looks up and says “You gave them your credit card information, right?”. When I left, I IMMEDIATELY looked at the reviews. This was 5 years ago. Doesn’t look like much has changed. Maybe do some self reflection?

Needed a same day appt for an elderly dog with hematuria. I understand it could be more serious than a UTI or bladder infection, but since the dog is more than 15 yrs old and I won't be doing any surgeries, we absolutely don't need anything other than an office visit and some antibiotics (maybe some blood work in order to prescribe the antibiotics) it shouldn't be a $600-$700 dollar visit - which is what they told me to bring, MINIMUM. Ok, if that's what it takes to get some meds for my dog then I'll do it but I only have $250 today so can we set up a payment plan for the rest? Nope, so sorry, if you don't have $600-$700 today then we can't see your pet. Disgusting - what kind of vet cares so little about an animal that they won't work with someone to take care of it in an urgent care situation?? These people should NOT be in business. **UPDATE** Anyone else notice the rude replies with nothing but excuses and aggressive tone? That alone should be enough for anyone considering where to take their pets. I myself am responsible for reputation management for a healthcare facility and it's Physicians and let me tell you, the way these people respond would get me fired. And it is appropriate to say there is a lack of caring for animals when you won't see them because someone only has $300 available right now and wants to be billed the additional cost "because most people don't pay their bills". That's putting cash over caring no matter how you look at it.

Absolutely the worst vet clinic to take your animal. Please DO NOT DO IT. The vet is BEYOND RUDE. And not even just to myself but to others when she answers the phone as well! So here’s 2 of my bad experiences. So I was sending my pup here for her check ups and shots. She recently got ahold of a part of a tree that was poisonous. Well once I realized that my 6 month old puppy got ahold of some of the tree, I immediately called the vet at affordable pet hospital and instead of kindly assisting me with the ACCIDENT, she responded to me by saying “oh wow, so you left your dog out in the back yard unattended?”. First of all, that’s extremely rude. I called the vet because of a serious concern and instead was ridiculed for a mistake. I’m sorry but how I monitor my dog is not your concern. How do you know I wasn’t monitoring my dog from the window and just so happen to look away to attend to my kids for 2 minutes? The fact that judgement was instantly placed on me in a situation that was purely an accident is absurd. Second instance. I was on the list to get my pup spayed. Well an opening became available within two days. Well since we had been on the list for three months and was finally offered a spot to get my dog spayed I wanted to take it before it was offered to the next dog on the list. They told me how much it was going to be... it was $580 to $640! When I was on the phone I kindly agreed to the amount unaware of a 1 week cancellation policy. After I hung up the phone I realized “wow, that’s A LOT of money for a spay!” So I called 4 other veterinary offices to realize it’s only $135 for the EXACT same things that affordable pet hospital offered me with the spay. So then I quickly call her back to let her know I didn’t want to proceed because I felt the price was outrageous. I called 15 minutes after the agreed surgery. She answered the phone and immediately told me she was too busy to take my phone call and to call back around 12:30. So I did just that. And once I finally got the vet on the phone... she proceeded to tell me that now I owe them $50 for a cancellation fee and basically demanded I pay it instantly while on the phone with her! Apparently you have up until a week prior to cancel a surgical appointment or you’ll have to pay a fee. However, my appointment was made within a 2 day window... and I was NOT aware of the cancellation policy. I was told I had 24 hours to cancel to avoid the charge. Anyway, given my circumstances I felt that I shouldn’t have been charged a $50 cancellation fee. I took that appointment so rapidly because I was FINALLY offered a spay appointment. I felt pressured because I was worried that our spot would be given to another dog. Moral of this story is... don’t go here. The staff is rude and they obviously overcharge. A spay is not supposed to cost up to $640... if you call other places on average they cost between $130-250. Review update: I just want to point out that the vet responds to every review posted about her. And instead of acknowledging her (the companies) faults and offering solutions on how they could help or do better she comments back to you to tell YOU what YOU did wrong and how it is not their fault. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t want a vet who can’t move past her own ego to effectively help families and their pets.

I showed up for our second appointment, (the first appt was 735 for them to inspect his eye and try to sell me more than i could afford, which was only 400) I called the assistant from the parking lot, told her what was going on with my dog, she immediately started being rude and aggressive towards me and started tallying all the things she needed to add to the bill. I told her I didn't like the manner in which she was speaking to me, that she was very rude and aggressive, that i would like to take my dog elsewhere, she said, well we already started the appointment over the phone so it will be 48$. I paid. Mind you, this is at most a 4 minute phone call, no apology, no nothing accept give me money, hardly an affordable place, I'm so dissappointed and full of twisted stomach knots like Ive been ripped off and taken advantage of, I will pray for her. I Very strongly warn you to not go here, very bad vibes.

This is the worst place I have ever experienced! Dont take your animals here. They do NOT care about the animals they just want money. We had to go on a weekend. We paid $95 over the phone just to get a appt. We got there a little late so there was a late charge fee. They made us the appt at around 4:15. They didnt let us know that after 5:00 it would be a additional $250! They knew that they wouldnt get us out of there by 5 so they could try and charge the extra $250. But the craziest part is they said it would cost around $1000 to do what they need to my little dog. They said I needed to apply for a loan over the internet. I actually didnt go in the Vet my kids father took the dog for me. But I heard the women over the phone and they were really rude! I was just worried about my dog so I was trying to hurry and get the loan he needed. I applied and was accepted. The I heard the lady that worked there say where was the money deposited!? I told here it asked me what bank to deposit it into..so I just figured mine. She had a bad attitude and said NO it needs to go in our account here at the Vet! They she continued to say I dont know why she didnt understand how to do it. It's pretty self explanatory!! By this point I was like what have they done for the dog!?! Why are they rushing me to get a loan for $1000 when they havent taken x Ray's or anything! They have already charged us $95 for absolutely nothing. Then she starts say well we need that $250 since it past 5! Mind you it was only a couple mins. I finally said just leave! Were not paying that and no e of this sounds right! Sounds like a F-ING RIP off! They were hella rude as well. THIS PLACE ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!!!!!! NOT AFFORDABLE WHATSOEVER! THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE NAME TO POS VET!

My cat has a Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. I am a disabled veteran on fixed income. $600 for wasted tests that were negative and antibiotics that did nothing. Another $60 for saline because my cat was "dehydrated". BS. Waste if money, don't use this business. My cat's lips are still swollen and I can't afford any further treatment.

Do not want to take new patients due to the pandemic very sad that this town and at that a veterinary place would be so quick to use a pandemic excuse it’s a poor decision that will hurt Bakersfield in the end I’ve called mutual places in this town and y’all attitude are the same quick to be lazy and not want to help good luck with trying to find an affordable reliable place to take your dog for a vet check up and get Spayed they will not help

Severely understaffed and overpriced. I called for a copy of my dogs medical records and was told they need at least 24 hours. When my grandma called for something the vet told her she was too busy to bother and call back later that day. Very poorly run business with no regards for customers.

Our dog got sick while I was racing at Buttonwillow, we found APH on Google. It was a Saturday and they gave us a prompt appointment. They did tests and had the results in less than an hour, gave us medication and a diet change. Three days later she was completely herself. We were afraid being out of town and a somewhat emergency a huge bill was coming, not the case they were very fair, lucky to of found them.

So heartbroken I took my puppy in after being sick for a few days told them all the symptoms and also stressed the fact that he was making a weird noise when breathing they told me to have paro test and they would discuss price came back with a bill of almost 400 dollars felling very sad and scared for my dog I agreed the parvo test came back neg and they still treated it as if it were parvo I got home and not even two hours later my buddy passed away IAM sorry but you're staff and you as a vet looking at all these reviews I feel you could have done more for a bill just shy of 400 dollars he will be missed and you need to really sit down as a person who is supposed to love and have compassion on animals and ask yourself could I have done more I wish I would have read these reviews before coming in

This vet is absolutely amazing,,they are very cautious,clean ,and helpful.I have been to everything vet Bakersfield has throughout my life as a pet owner ,and this hospital is the one and only for me.I highly rrecommend everything pet owner that needs their animal treated good and know it will leave there safely.❤

They took my baby girl the same day and had options to pay. Only downside is not being able to use carecredit especially when they have the brochures for them.
