Dr Schmidt provided a thorough exam of our dog's eyes that have diabetic cataracts. She gave us detailed info on diabetic cataracts, process to remove them, care after surgery, what to expect through out the process and any risks involved. Her staff are very nice and helpful. Everyone showed care for our doggie. We scheduled our doggies surgery and follow up appointments in September. We would recommend Veterinary Opthamologly.

Our latest visit to this office has provided evidence of a very low level of "customer service". We had an appointment scheduled for 7/11/2019, which we cancelled by leaving a message on their voice mail. Today, when we went in for an exam, we were charged $80 for a "no show" for that 2019 appointment. They should have billed us for the no-show fee at that time, when we could provided evidence of calling back to cancel. They stand by a note in their file from almost 2 years ago that they attempted to contact us about the appointment. However, they apparently never followed through on the voice mail that we left to cancel - the only way to typically get in contact with the office. We've been patients with several dogs for many years, but today is the last visit and there will be no further recommendations to our many dog-owning friends. Adding a followup to this. I can see why Alex gets multiple, extremely negative reviews on Yelp. He had the gall to call my wife, berate her, complain that I was condescending to their non-customer-centric staff, accuse her (unjustifiably) of multiple no-shows, and inform her that they were dropping us as patients. Good riddance.

Dr. Schmidt and her team are incredible. They are knowledgeable and extremely compassionate. They took care of my Peppers' eyes so that he had vision throughout his life. They are now taking care of my two senior dogs. Highly recommend Dr. Schmidt. She explains everything very well, believes in preventative care. She is amazing.

I would recommend Dr. Schmidt 100%. Everyone in her office is professional, knowledgeable, kind, gentle and loving. Dr. Schmidt is extremely knowledgeable and professional when explaining the diagnosis, treatment plan and prognosis, she is very thorough. And even if you may have Made mistakes during the after care, she explains everything to you gently and kindly and never uses an accusatory tone. She’s absolutely wonderful.

Three times more expensive for surgery. The visit was supposed to be 170 then it was 300 just for a office visit made me sit with my dog outside for an hour. Just awful won’t be back

Great staff and great vets! My 3 lbs dog gets a bit snappy but they know what they're doing and were able to secure her gently and kindly to get her services done. They really do genuinely care about helping your animal and offer options instead of making you feel like your forced into a decision. They're pretty booked so please go to your vet first to get your animal checked before just taking them there. Make sure there are no medical or life threatening issues that maybe causing the current symptoms. That's the advice they gave me and sure enough my dog had a toxic infected uterus which almost cost her life. I'm glad they lead me in the right direction instead of just thinking about money and business. They wanted to make sure my dog was safe and healthy because eyes can come second if there is a bigger unseen issue. I would recommend Dr. Schmidt and the ophthalmology team here ANY DAY!

Dr. Schmidt seems excellent. She explained everything thoroughly. Hopefully, my pup's eyes will improve with the regimen of meds she started him on.

We visit the Veterinary Ophthalmology office 2 or 3 times a year. My dog has vision issues that have been improved since making this a regular part of our lives. Bubba is well cared for by the various people who are part of the Doctor's treatment team.

We went to Dr Schmidt for our Golden Retriever over 4 years ago. Max had an inherited condition that required the removal of one of his eyes. The disease is bilateral and we were told he would likely lose his other eye in a year. Max was 8 years old at the time. Working with Dr Schmidt to adjust Max’s medication we were able to preserve Max’s eyesight until he went to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 13. I was so happy that Max never had a day in his life in darkness and am so very grateful for the care Max received. We also have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that Dr Schmidt sees them for dry eye. We have had nothing but professionalism and kindness from everyone who works at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services.

When they are busy, parking is ridiculous. But the staff is great, so do what you gotta do for your furry family members I guess.

Saved my dog's eyes. Very knowledgeable and efficient staff. Kind. Only eye specialist on the Central Coast. People drive miles to be seen here. Busy. Hard to get an appointment on short notice.

Our little Schnauzer lost most of her sight, due to diabetes, two years ago. Dr Schmidt has helped her to maintain what little sight she has left. Staff is great and so caring. So thankful we live close by, I've met pet owners who have driven hundreds of miles to bring their pets to Dr. Schmidt.
