Providence Veterinary Hospital Alameda, California

My two girls have grown up here. They had their first exam in 10 days with Providence Clinic and now they are almost 4 years old. The most important thing to me here is I feel comfortable leaving my cats for them to take care of without worrying about anything, we all know that cat visiting could be stressful to both the owner and the pet itself. but with the technician & doctors here, There has never been any issues. They are very kind & professional. I moved out a couple of times and visited different hospitals, they are OK but not compared to Providence's service so I still choose to bring my girls back here. Read some comments regarding the charges, I want to say you got what you paid. Also if there is a bigger charge I always get notified before anything happens. I want to make sure my babies get taken care of well.

We had a great experience and they took very good care of our puppy Plush through his neutering surgery. They called to know how he was doing on the day after the surgery and left us with good instructions to take care of him. They are very patient and sweet with Plush too. Thank you!

Professional, great attitude all around!

This was my first time coming to this location. Are usually go to the location on Webster Street but there was a mixup, but everything worked out just fine. It's always hard finding a good vet clinic to take your pets to because you want to feel comfortable and confident since you rely on them to make sure your pet is healthy and in good hands. This is the place to go and BOTH locations are great. PROS -Easy appointment booking online or calling. -Staff is so friendly, patient, understanding and helpful. -easy drop off appointment due to Covid safety. Just park in the spot, call the front desk and let them know what space number you are in. Easy. -good location -Clean office -They do NOT try to gouge you with unnecessary services or medications. I've had bad experiences with other vet clinics before with my other dog. -I feel comfortable and always have a peace of mind whenever I take my pet here. -I have had to book with different veterinarian doctors so I could get the soonest appointment, but they all were great and just all consistently good. :) My last two visits were with Dr. Thurman and she was outstanding. Very thorough and patient when explaining things I wasn't sure about.

Wonderful clinic! I was visiting with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice and I was so impressed by how nice and caring the staff is!

Everyone here is kind, compassionate, and competent. I have been taking my dogs here for man, many years and nothing but good things to say about every vet that has treated my dogs.

Dr listens to you , and holds your Fur babies near. Does not over charge.

I enjoyed meeting Dr. Yashida and the staff. A staff member came out to the parking lot to my car, explained the procedure, asked preliminary questions and took my cat in for the annual exam, etc. Once the exam was over, Dr. Yashida came out and discussed the results & let me know he was going back in to give my cat his annual shots. The staff member came out to give me the bill, collected my credit card and in 5 minutes another staff member returned my card with the paid bill; and my cat was delivered to my car. This procedure took approximately 25 minutes, which really surprised me, as I thought it would take longer. Thanks for making it an easy experience.

Generally friendly staff, short wait xs for appointments and Dr. Woollsey - our vet there - is great w our pet. Her diagnostic skills and treatment plans are top notch. She has helped our LB heal and stay healthy by presenting us w novel but powerful treatment plans that address nutrition and behavioral issues. Best vet we've ever had.

I recommend finding a different vet. These people don’t care about your animal . Horrible customer service, rude and expensive. 0 STARS

I love Providence Vet! They are the best. When my last kitty had to be put to sleep they were the most caring people. Now my newest kitty is going to Providence and I couldn’t be happier with this caring group.

Excellent vets and super friendly, dedicated staff. My Peke with fear aggression acts like a perfect gentleman with them. I think they have magic animal powers!

Great staff wonderful doctors and very kind and gentle with our pups. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a new vet and the pricing is very competitive.

Up until today this was our fur family's vet, for over 15 years, well I took our cat this Saturday because he had blood in his stool, the doctor examined him then recommended getting some blood work, and the technician would bring an estimate in, she did it was high, so I told her I would do the blood work which was about 345.00, but not the other procedure which was 90, then the doctor came back in and says to his understanding we didn't want to do anything, so I explained that was not what I said, so he crossed off the 90.00 procedure off the pre treatment form and thought that was that, they took my cat back for blood work and than I paid my bill and was told they would call when they get the results back. I got home and noticed they charged me additional 60.00 then discussd, then noticed I had a missed call from them and assumed it was about the overcharge they made but at this point they were closed so today Monday I called and to my surprise they said I needed to pay an additional $30.00, I tried to explain to the lady what happened but I felt dismissed and not heard, so I told her at our follow up appointment for our dog in a few days we would pay, but changed my mind I wanted to see what pre treatment form I supposedly signed. I got there and I told the lady why I was there and can I please see the pre-treament agreement, she showed me my receipt from my care credit card, they lied to me tried to make me feel like I was wrong, never apologetic or sorry at all, and they did an unauthorized procedure on my cat, so i I told the rude lady I would like copies of my pets records I felt like she was happy to see us go. RUDE ANS SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!

Wont give relaible quote. How do i raide funds n i cant get an estimate on funds. Wack

This clinic practically saved our dog Debastian's life. Not literally but definitely the quality of his life. Every employee here is delightful to engage with and these days you don't find customer service like that anymore. So we thank you from the bottom of our paws! -Chelsey and Casey

Wonderful hospital! The staff are extremely friendly and clearly love animals. I've only had the one interaction so far, but the vet seemed extremely genuine, and was very considerate in reviewing all costs with me before beginning any procedures/exams. Will be coming here with my pup from now on!

Thank you for seeing my kitty today. My cat fell from the third floor and when I got to the clinic I was in tears barely able to articulate a proper sentence, and they took my baby for an emergency examination right away, gave me tissues while I filled the forms and put me in a separate room seeing how distressed I was. They were courteous and kind, they gave us good information about her condition and seed genuinely invested in caring for her. I can see she's in no pain right now and I'm confident the treatment recommend will work. Thank you again for being so kind given the state I walked in in.

Efficient, kind and reasonably priced

I’ve taken my cat to this veterinary hospital since I’ve lived in alameda. One time I thought my cat had a mouth infection and the doctor assured it was a just a foreign object stick in between his teeth to me without talking down to me( I was freaking out ) Had a slightly less 5 star experience with a different doctors but as a WHOLE I would take my kitties back again.

All the Vets I’ve taken my babies to at Providence have been excellent in their professionalism and love of animals. We were highly recommended to Dr Woolley but have also had the pleasure of engaging with Drs Luu and Clemens - all wonderful vets and diagnostic sleuths. Not an easy task with a 75lb pitbull/lapdog! The staff are all delightful and knowledgeable, taking you and yours under their collective wing. Shout out here to Liz and Mary although I love them all.

We take both our dogs to Providence. They are very welcoming and professional. The doctors will answer any and all questions. My dog had an ear infection that persisted for multiple months. Other vets were treated the issue, but it was Providence that offered treatment that healed the issue. They talk through the plan of care/costs with you before they proceed with any treatment. The techs and doctors truly care for your pets and provide loving care.

We just moved here and our pup came down with a UTI. It came on suddenly and she was obviously in distress. They were able to fit us in that afternoon. They gave us an estimate of services and took amazing care of our dog. The doctor and front desk staff (because we had a lot of interaction with them) were amazing. SUPER people. They really care about their patients. I can't say enough good things about these folks. If they were people doctors, I'd go to them if I were sick.

Highly recommend this place! The care the gave to our guy Astro was impressive & we are beyond thrilled to have found them. Everyone we worked with from the Dr to the Staff were kind, caring, knowledgeable, attentive & really took the time to listen & then take action. Really excited Astro has such a great team to care for him!!

Unfortunately, these folks care more about their business model than the health of my pet. If you are new to the area, I would look somewhere else to take your pet for the first visit.

Thank you Providence for helping my pup. I called the morning of and they were able to squeeze me in that afternoon. The staff personnel on the phone was very sweet and helpful. They gave clear instructions about bringing past medical history for my dog and confirmed my time before I got off the phone. Once we arrived the staff greeted us with big smiles. We filled out the paper work and only waited a few minutes before heading back into the room. The staff checked on us frequently until the Vet was able to come into the room. The Vet was very informative and was able to answer any and all questions I had. At the end of the appointment they were very clear about how to give the medications and antibiotics to my dog. The next day they called to follow up and see how my dog was doing. Thanks Providence for the great customer service and for taking care of my fur baby. Overall great service, nice location with parking around the building, and very clean and well kept inside. Tip: They also board dogs!
