I am so thankful for this shelter. My fiance and I had been searching numerous shelters in the bay area for our new fur baby. After weeks of scouring various shelter sites I found this shelter and our newest family addition. The adoption process thus far has been easy and pleasant and the employees we have met have been so kind and I feel like they genuinely wanted dto male sure our boy found a good home. Thank you so much!

It's the best shelter I have seen till date. The people working for the shelter are extremely sweet and understanding. They give you a chance to foster before you adopt... that's a major plus, the animals are extremely well taken care of. Hats off to each and everyone who works for this shelter. Friends of The Alameda Animal Shelter thank you for helping me help those very new kittens. I bottle fed for two days, I'm exhausted! Thank you for your dedication to making Alameda the great Island that it is. It was one of the hardest things to but I know they will find perfect forever home.

A good Samaritan turned in my dog and within 15 minutes I had her out of jail. They greeted me on the phone in a pleasant voice and I got the biggest smile when I arrived (even though I felt like a bad mom) I really appreciate what they did. Always post on Nextdoor if you lose a fur baby.

We came here to find a final resting place for Mr. Belvedere. The staff was understanding, helpful, efficient, and prompt. I couldn't have asked for a better send off for my best friend.

This review stems from an incident about a year ago, around September of 2019. I will preface this by saying that I am not a veterinarian. I did grow up in a household who fostered very young kittens and am familiar with their care and diseases that come. I adopted a kitten from this shelter. When she was old enough I took her back to the shelter to get spayed. The told me she had ring worm and recommend that they keep her at the shelter for a month. I assured the veterinarian that I had taken care of kittens with ringworm before, she was the only pet in the house, I lived alone, and that I wasn't concerned with contracting it as I have dealt with it before. Frustrated, they returned my kitten back to me who I proceeded took home and examine. There was zero hair loss on her legs or around her face. A little confused I took her to a local veterinarian who found no signs of ringworm. Confused I took her back home and was just happy that I had a healthy cat. A few weeks later the cat had a swollen stomach, a quick trip to the hospital revealed her to have FIP, and I put down immediately. The only place that she could have gotten the virus was at the shelter. The fact that they have a veterinarian on payroll who lied about ringworm I find disturbing.

We were fortunate to be given the opportunity by FAAS to foster two kittens. Staff were great and extremely helpful and the kittens proved wonderful. We have adopted both

I adopted two pets from FAAS. Both adoptions were easy and you can do a trial adoption. My dog and cat are very healthy and happy. I highly recommend going to FAAS to adopt or donate money. They also need pet items.

I wish all animal shelters were like this one. My partner and I just adopted a dog here and the experience couldn't have been better. The staff were super friendly and helpful and have assured us that they will provide continued support for us and our pup.

These people are compassionate, caring and focused on the well-being of their animals. There is no sense of bureaucracy here. It's all about the critters.
