I've been dealing with Dermatology for Animals almost a year now. I have a Great Dane with severe skin issues and thankfully the vet here was able to diagnose his issue. Let me first say, I love the vet. It's the front staff that I am not fond of. My Great Dane has to be on medication on a regular basis. Due to the current COVID restrictions (even though they have been lifted by the CDC) I have to park, call the number and wait for them to bring out the meds to me. And there lies the problem. It is not unusual for me to call 10-15 times only to get the answering machine each time. My standard wait time before someone eventually answers ranges from 30-55 minutes. In order to get their attention, I sometimes have to call the emergency vet the shares the same office with them. I've been told by Dermatology vet staff on more than one occasion that the reason for them not answering their phones is that they are dealing with other clients on the phone. This is disappointing. If I am a client, waiting there in the parking lot, wouldn't that take precedence over someone calling from the convenience of their home? The last straw came today. I, once again, drove to the office, parked and called and called and called. I called and got their voicemail recording 11 times in a 25 minute period. Being on my lunch hour and foolishly assuming I could pick up the meds and be back home within a reasonable amount of time was not a realistic expectation. On the 11th call, I left a voicemail stating what happened to me. It took over an hour for them to return my call. Sadly, I am going to have to look for another vet, as I can't go through this every time I have to pick up my Walter's medications. This has happened to me several times, no matter which day I go, and over several months. Each time I'm told they're training "someone new", which I don't think is the real issue here. Their customer service needs some serious help! And if they continue to only offer curbside pickup, a dedicated line to those waiting outside would be appreciated.

About 10 months ago my Balinese cat Moss started to get scan-like crusts on his ears and lost hair on his head and neck. Our regular Vet suspected a fungal infection like ringworm and began treatment, but they were ineffective. After 4-5 months of trying different things, our Vet recommended we take Moss to Dermatology for Animals in Avondale. Dr Lockwood met Moss and immediately ran biopsies and tests to confirm her suspicions that he had an autoimmune disease. She prescribed us medication to help, and Moss immediately improved! Six months on and he is a happy, healthy, fluffy boy again with no reoccurrence of his illness. We have found Dr Lockwood and all the staff to be kind, empathetic, professional and encouraging, and the prices to be very fair considering the lengths they go to in order to treat our kitty. Thank you to all the team at Dermatology for Animals for giving us our sweet kitty back!

Dr Song finally figured out what was making our Great Dane break out and get blisters on his tummy. We are still in the antibiotics stage, so not cleared up yet. But we are hopeful. If it goes away I would definitely give five stars.

I would give more stars if I could!! We had been dealing with our dogs allergies for two years, taking him to our local vet every couple months with no success. We were hesitant to take him to a dermatology specialist because of the cost, …

My puppy suddenly had alot of skin issues. It's expensive but the vet knew exactly what it was and he's in his way to being healthy again. All of the staff are great and explain everything in detail.

Love this place. And so does my girl. They treat my pup as I would and go over and above to keep her as healthy and happy as possible. Dr. Simon is absolutely amazing, as well as the rest of the staff.

This is truly a wonderful place if your pet has ANY kind of skin problems. You don't think much about your family pet having a serious skin problem, but when they do, this is the place. I was troubled with my dog's problem, but Dr. Shick …
