This vet by far is the best we have been to and we’ve been to a lot over the years. Doctor Joe is a very experienced vet and it shows. Pros are they can usually work you in the schedule and they don’t give responsible breeders a hard time like some other vets. Well worth the drive to chugiak for our vet care needs!

Our pet was seen for a surgical procedure 3/26. She has been persistently vomiting for 6 days now. I have called in and spoke to the tech on Thursday describing the issue and my concern. I rules out it was the meds as they had stopped by two days at that point and I fasted her and out her on a bland diet in the interim. I was assured someone would call me. Nothing . 24 hours later I call again. I was told I would hear back within an hour and a half. Again nothing. The day of surgery we had the same issue with no updates and we called mid afternoon to check up on her and when she puked be available for pick up and had to call three times this day. Finally,,, one hour before they closed and third call in I had to get firm about her released the fact we have heard nothing and we have a half hour drive to get to her for pick up. Although I admire and like the doc. I have to say this is lacking care or concern for patients and highly unprofessional for no one to return calls. Why is a vomiting animal not a concern for a vet post surgery? It should be.. yet I am out in a position to seek help else where and try and help my ill pet from experience and the internet. This had ruined my opinion of this facility. And made me question their advice and trustworthiness with my pet.

I really like this vet clinic. They are there for the animals and the owners. Not out to feed the corporate machine that a lot of "group" vet clinics do. They remind me of the old school house call doctors and actually like their job and making a difference. Also great prices, very flexible with schedules. Drop the pet off and come back later if necessary. I am happy to say thia is our vet and will stay that way!!! 100% recommended.

We had Dr Wise examine our older dog. He clearly presented our options. Unfortunately we had to put our dog down a few days later. He was very caring and compassionate and explained what to expect during the procedure. The cost was more reasonable than other Vets quoted us. We will be taking our other dogs there in the future.

Horrible customer service. I called to ask a question pertaining to coggins testing for horses. The receptionist didn’t know the answer, which is fine, I figured she wouldn’t. However, I was told the vet would be asked and I would receive a call back that day or the next morning..I never heard back. On a separate occasion I called to make an appointment for my horse, wanting to schedule a week out as it was a time specific appointment. The receptionist for whatever reason doesn’t book appointments for horses, so I was again told that the vet would be consulted with and I would be called right back. I asked if I could receive a call whether that appointment was available or not, so I would know to find a vet elsewhere if need be. I never heard back.

I spent countless amounts of money at Vca after about 4 visits to Vca, I took my dog into see doctor Joe he knew what the problem was immediately. As well they are very hands on vet lets you go in back with them for x-rays etc, no other vets do that for you. I will continue to use this Vet for future events.

Dr. Wise and staff saw our Cats Gobi and Jackson. Both were last minute appointments. They were kind and very thorough, Dr. Wise made inquiries after we left even.

Dr. Grohs and his staff do amazing work. My American Bull Dog has had routine check up and vaccines as well as been put under for dental and surgery. While a little pricey Dr. Grohs is highly knowledgeable and takes great care of the animals

We have always been impressed with the quality of care and service provided to our horses along with the quick and caring response we receive from Dr. Julie. We appreciate the care she provides. Always receive excellent support from the clinic staff and front desk personnel. I would absolutely recommend her and the clinic to anyone who has horses and is looking for an excellent equine vet./ / / / / / / / / / Posted By Howard Patzke

Terrible front desk girl ( glasses). She is incredibly rude and should not be the face of this business. Her attitude is deplorable and I hope the owners keep a close eye on her as she said that an issue with my dog was probably fine and if …

Joe and Julie are both brilliant doctors and it was a privilege to work with them several years ago. They have been my family's vet for quite some time. They have been there for some serious emergencies, pregnant bichon that got terribly sick and they were able to keep the pups and momma alive. Our dog was diagnosed with a complete torn anterior cruciate ligament, terrible arthritis and hip dysplasia when she was only two years old.

Alaska Equine Center has always been wonderful over the years, whether treating our pets with loving care and compassion, or handling end of life matters for our critters. Thanks for good service!

Overpriced. Especially for horse care. While the service was professional, the company charges way more than what they should. We had the vet come in to clean a wound. The next day we got a unreasonably high bill. They charged triple retail value for some items and the vet had not worked with horses recently. This led to a longer vet call than necessary. When I talked to the clerk, she was very defensive and rude. Later the vet that came out called and asked if there was an issue. I told her my concerns and she said she would talk to the boss and get back to me. I never got a call back from them, but they charged the full amount to our credit card on file. While we liked our vet, we are now looking for a horse vet that is more customer oriented, experienced, and has a more reasonable pricing model.
