We rescued a dog three years ago. The staff at OPP knows which dogs will match with which families. They are so caring and supportive of the animals as well as the adoption families. Highly recommend if you are considering pet adoption. Rescues are the best dogs ever!

I went in three weeks in a row, sent emails and tried to call several times. They wouldn’t get back to me. Finally to tell me that the dog wasn’t a good fit on the third weekend of coming in. The first week I went in the volunteers were amazing, and incredibly helpful (which is why I gave 2 stars instead of one). The second week I came in one of the volunteers was guilting me about not wanting to adopt the senior dog, even though my reasoning for that was because I didn’t believe I could provide the best home for one. I was told my emails were seen and that they had been told about my interest in one of the dogs. The owner didn’t apologize but said that “someone should’ve gotten back to me”. I really wanted to adopt from this shelter due to me thinking what they were doing for these animals was amazing. The whole process was so frustrating too because for three weeks I stopped looking for the “right” dog and was set on the one I had found here. It is completely understandable if the dog is not a good fit; but not having the decency to make me aware of that was unprofessional. I was ready to give one of their dogs a loving “forever” home. It’s a shame that they were unresponsive. On top of that- no one was wearing masks, or seemed to care about the pandemic.

Such a wonderful place, and if you are thinking about adopting a pet, you should visit. We gained so much more than a pet though...Gracie is a part of our family!

We live OPP! Through them, when have adopted 2 new family members. They save the lives of hundreds of dogs and match them with their new family. The best interest of the pets come first. I highly recommend!

Our Pals Place is a fantastic place to get a new pal. Over the past 14 years my husband and I have adopted 3 dogs. Every one of them has been a blessing to our home. Gigi and team do a fantastic service for these animals and the community with the summer camp and the rehome superstore. Anytime I hear of anyone looking for a new pal, I tell them about OPP.

They didn’t even give us a chance, they decided they weren’t going to let us adopt the minute we walked in the door. They are racist and judgmental.

Spotlessly clean and fabulous volunteers. What's not to love about rescue and people willing to give their time to animals that have been tossed away like trash? Angels!

Very professional... After we decided on our new family member (Kona) the staff setup several visits so that they could ensure she would be a good fit for my family as well as us being a good fit for her. They made us feel welcomed and I was pleasently surprised with the follow up calls they made to check-in on us to see how everything was going. They did a great Job!

I should not even have to explain this. I decided to do a trial adoption with much love for an animal name Marissa. I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety due to a very traumutic event in my life and my therapist recommended an ESA(emotional support animal). She told me that dogs that have been sheltered are great dogs and that the dog needs to feed off my personality and then eventually I can get the dog trained. I did a trial run with this dog for 2 weeks. I absolutely fell in love with her, but she had a anxiety problem as well. When I spoke with the TRAINER that was on stafe at this adoption place, she specifically told me that dogs with anxiety should not be with Owners who have anxiety because animals feed off humans energy. We both agreed over the phone that this specific case with Marissa would NOT change over time and that she needed a home that would suit her needs better, so I heartbreakingly returned her. The next day, my friend went to visit and the man running the place told her that a girl returned her due to not wanting her and not caring about her anxiety and not loving her. This made me turn away from this adoption facility. I love dogs with all my heart, but the reason adoption trials are a thing are because the Owner should see if the dog is good with them, or not.
