VCA Kelley Animal Hospital Birmingham, Alabama

I have been remiss and should have left a review sooner. I have been taking both my cats here for over two years. My youngest cat just went through roughly 8months of cancer treatment, for a very aggressive lymphoma. Dr Monaghan and the team have been here for us every step of the way. Their dedication to him has impressed me to no end. Thanks to them and their advice and care, he is still with me and thriving. My other cat has arthritis and she has received the same dedication to her and her treatment. Both of them mean the world to me and I'm glad I picked Kelley Animal Hospital for their care.

They are the absolute best!!!! Two weeks ago I took my cat to a different vet near my hometown, that I’ve visited myself a couple of times with previous animals, however I had heard a few things about them but I knew them there and already had an account there. I took him in Bc he had these huge wounds on the base of his ears and would not stop scratching, I also needed him to be neutered, dewormed, and flea medication. I discussed this with them multiple times before I ever even dropped him off and again before I left him. When we went and got him the next day all they did was neuter him, send him home w a dewormer, and a cone. They called me the next day told me they did everything I asked. And the bill was outrageous. Well he wouldn’t stop scratching, and it turns out the previous vet had only sent him home w the dewormer and neutered him. he clawed through his cone I had no idea what to do until I found VCA kelly. I called that day and got an appointment, she immediately knew what was wrong and gave me different options to cure the ear mites but he was so uncomfortable we went ahead with anesthesia and she clean his ears, she gave him an all over “first time check up”, a shot to comfort him since he had scratched him self so bad, a flea and ear mite medication, and a sample bag of some cat food. And the bill was less than the other vet. Not only were they actually concerned for my cat, and wanted to get him back to being comfortable healthy and happy but they talked to me, eased some of my worries, and got my baby man back to his normal self. If you want a vet who isn’t just wanting to make money and actually cares about animals, they were fast, nice, and very helpful and their clinic is so cute!! My Cat wasn’t scared at all once I let him out of his carrier in the room he loved it. And he’s so much happier now. I highly highly recommend coming here.

Always a great experience here. I bring my mother's dog for nail trims and Kelly Hospital does a wonderful job. An older and at times temperamental Chihuahua mix, he LOVES coming here. The tech's do a great job answering questions about fees and services. Definitely would recommend!!

Dr. Mahnagah is amazing! She took very good care of my Qtpie when his front keg was broken. He back to 100% now.

I did board my cat here for 10 days during our Family Vacation. They were great. Even called midway through to let us know how she was doing. The only thing that was a thing. Upon calling &checking rates for boarding, I asked the ❓ How much is it per day. The person I was speaking with knew I was going out of town from Sunday to Sunday per that same conversation. I was told the day rate was $8.50. I thought wow that's awesome. Great let's get it set up. Dropped of our fur family member and headed on down to Florida. We get back late Sunday night, can't wait to get Kitty back home. Monday morning here we come kitty. Ok I had figured the cost in my head. 13.00 flea treatment for all animals being boarded. Kool plus $8.50 X 9 days = $76.50 + $13.00 Flea Total $89.50 Right? NoNoNo I'm asked to pay $198.89 ??? The boarding rate per night is $20.65 × 9 plus $13.00 for flea treatment comes up to $198.89. it seems the $8.50 Daily rate is for daycare. Just a BIG misunderstanding that I will be more thorough on my questioning for info next time. But all in all I believe they took super care of our pet and we got her home safe and sound.

They fit my dog in for a walk in today and the assistant Stephanie was an absolute pleasure and made my experience wonderful. The new vet was amazing too, took his time and didn't pressure you to buy unnecessary shots/tests.

Update: my, now 21yo, cat is still given spectacular care. Despite having more cats in my lifetime than most, I have never had a truly geriatric cat. The staff & Doctors are so loving to me (& my cat) in helping me with his new care! Nothing better than being able to call with stupid questions and get respectful & compassionate answers! We have also added an new kitten. He is 18 mo now. He started wil some very big troubles. He turned out to be cryptorchid. They believed my gut instinct & he is much better now! Read my initial review for context of this update! _________________________ Wonderful Vet and staff! They are great with my 18yo cat. I highly suggest them for cat care. The right questions are asked. They listen and care. Everything is explained clearly. You are given clear and reasonable opinions and expectations for the care you need. My favorite thing... they do not suggest unnecessary treatments or test. If money is an issue they understand and will give you reasonable expectations. You will get a breakdown of each item/test/procedure it's cost and alternative options if available. If they don't know how much something will be they don't give false quotes. If the cost depends on test results they are clear and tell you the options and their price range. You may be able to find a cheaper price/vet but you get what you pay for. They do not take payments.

I would like to thank everyone at Kelley Animal Hospital for taking such good care if my dog, Zuzu, for thirteen years. Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to him this past February 28th. I was able to have him euthanized at our home. Kelley AH even handled his cremation details for me. ????

No one answered the phone even though they wanted me to call apon arrival. Sat there for an hour and 30 minutes for something that should have only taken 30 minutes. And didn't really even talk to me about my cats infected eye. Just said it was fine.

They truly r the best people I have meet in a long time

The service here is ok. The staff cared for my pet decently but I always felt there was something wrong. They were always kind to me and my dog but I didn’t not care for the vibe at all. I gave this place two stars because the vet Dr. Monoham was very rude. She often tried to belittle me because of my ability to care for my pet. Not everyone has thousands of dollars to pour into their pet but she didn’t care. She just wants you to spend all of your money never understanding that all people are not rich. I do the very best I can. If you are tight on money I advise you not to go here.. She will not care. She is not kind or friendly. There is much better service at other animal hospitals.

I've moved out of the area but still make the drive for my puppers. Haven't found any other vet I trust with my babies as much as these guys.
